when I turned 13 yrs old, I insisted to my parents that I was grown up enough to see the doctor by myself I made my way to an appointment on the bus to visit my doctor after school sinc eit was just up the road.

Turned out that my regular doctor was away and had someone else in her place.
This guy told me I had lukemia because I was complaining of tiredness and a couple other symptoms. He never checked any lab tests or anything. Just made this pronouncement to a 13 yr old kid.

Now, I had watched the week before a Bill Cosby special where the little black kid died of lukemia so guess what was in my mind when I heard this.... I WAS GONNA DIE

He sent me home and that was that. Needless to say, I was hysterical...literally hysterical...by time I got home. I bawled onthe bus..bawled on the walk home....and was crying so hard by time I got in the house that I couldnt speak. All I could get out was &quot;I'm dying Mummy&quot;.

Both my parents were in that doctor's office in a shot and took a strip out of this guy for telling a kid something like that without any forethought. Then waited for my regular dr to return and cussed her out too for having someone who would be so insensitive and thoughtless towards a child.

I was just anemic and I wasnt dying

I accompanied my son on all dr visits until he was 15. I can't imagine leaving him alone. Going to the dr's office is traumatic enough for a toddler, why would anyone leave them alone.

When his doctor walked into the exam room, my son's first question was 'am I getting a shot today?' She never answered yes outright. Usually something like well, lets take a look at the charts and see. That was followed by him giving me a worried look. Imagine if I responded with 'well let me step outside for a minute' Poor thing would have lost it.

Half the time I wish I had somebody to go in with me so I know I would not let a 2 year old be alone.

Side note: I know he's under stress and pressure in those pics, but that man looks crazy.
