Her Dad is furious and claim that they only want to label her. I just want to make sure that she is ok and if there is anything she may need help with that she gets it...
I believe my child is fine...and she has her own individual personality...I do not understand how doctors will stress that each child is unique but when your child does not fall under what they consider to be normal then they end up making you feel inadequate as a parent.

I had signed up my Daughter to this Devl program crap an regretted it ever since. Her regular Doctor cleared her for her devlopment skils ..plus mi neva need dem fi tell mi she shi did a progress well.. mi did si sey shi did a do advance tings fi har age. But I digress.
When dem so call "expert" call har in wan day.. Dem did a do di same "Pint pan dis" "What is this animal?" Blah blah ..my girl hole dung har head an neva sey nutten. Fus ting outta di Nurse or whateva shi was mout is bout Test fi Autism an wat not an may need medication

i will only speak from the standpoint of an educator.
what you have done is just what you are supposed to be doing.
you have recognized that "something just isnt right" (whatever that is for you..each parent/person different) and you have taken steps to address "it".
i always tell parents to look at things like "learning issues" the same way you would a serious medical issue (like the heart or lungs).
My question is: Would you wait if the "issue" was a heart defect or cancer?
I am sure that the answer would be an unequivocal NO.
You have done the right thing.
They have told you to test her.
Let them test her.
The answer will come and you will go from there.
The center/core is that you are being a great parent.
YOU ARE BEING PROACTIVE!
ETA: Also, parents are under the assumption that when testing is suggested that labels and pills are immediately going to be pushed on them.
You wouldn't have had her tested if you didn't know your child.
Testing her is just a means of getting more information.
Also, the person who recommended testing, should've told you to be sure to get second and third opinions (Just like you would a medical issue).
Keep in mind the more information you have...the better able you are to make informed decisions, whatever they may be.

Carpet is not good for asthmatics. Hard wood or tile is best.
You can get dust mite proof covers for her mattress and pillows. Dust mites are a frequent culprit.Comment

I know you must feel very afraid and nervous but everything will be alright. They probably did not factor that Abi no longer wanted to be bothered by the strangers anymore. 
If they have a checklist of things to look for I would take that info and take a look see on another day if she really does those things to put your mind at ease as you know your child best

With that Skells it is up to you and Mr Skells to decide whether or not you are going to get her tested. I think it may be a bit early but I am in no way shape or form qualified to speak on the matter. But ask your self this question if I go ahead and get her tested what will I do with the results. Will you be willing to look into the treatment options (meds) they are offering?Comment

I made no ASSUMPTIONS. I was TOLD that they may have to introduce meds if they find a "imablance" in learning ability. I will still contend that not all in the medical profession is all about the welfare of your child. There is money in pushing these so call "test". Its not a FREE service. They will bill the Insurance companies upmteens of dallas fi dem test an if dem figure out that you are a gullible parent dem start a show yuh graph and charts a try convince yuh sey yuh chile is in "danger" of some diablity.
What they are "testing" for was to see if my child had a learning disability. A child who come home an study her book at 3 year old and can do her A B Cs in sign language does not have a learning disability. They would have just a tad bit more credibility if she was trying to listen to what WE were telling her happens when she is in her home environment rather than trying to imply we were not looking out for her interest by not succumbing to their "test"
Seemed a little sinister to me
SKelly as I said before.. not to discourage you from doing the test and wat not but have your ears and eyes peeled on these people. Can't paint all of them with the same brush ..but money trumps ethics in the long run

i am simply presenting another point of view.
my comments were just that.
they were from the perspective of a person who teaches.
i dont see as much as say an elementary teacher might see, but i've seen my share.
the suspicious/worried parent...testing done sometimes there is an issue...most times not.
but the tests are done and at the end...the bottom line is that the parents have the information (whatever that may be in there situation.
in MD these tests are free to parents.
which is why when a parents comes with suspicions all batteries of testing are "suggested".
it is to take or leave.

Yeah it's gonna hurt (you the parent) to have someone come and imply that your child aint aright, but I'd [censored] and moan and then get over it. <span style="text-decoration: underline">I'd get the tests done <span style="font-style: italic">now</span> so that I can make an informed decision <span style="font-style: italic">later</span>.</span>
Doing this is for your daughter, not you or hubby. Hopefully, when she's receiving the Nobel Prize for Physics, you can recall when you had her tested for autism and was happy that you did.Comment
