2.hear wah dem recomend(sp)(dis nuh mean yuh haffi do wah dem seh, yuh smart enough to wade through the crap dem might or might not feed yuh)

3.mek the information marinate inna yuh brain

4.get a 2nd and/or 3rd opinion test if yuh want

5.make a plan of action and attack the problem (whether dat mean yuh a guh do alternative therapy etc etc but get a plan)

6.continue to be vigilant and proactive (sign up on boards where you can get support from other parents, have discussions and be informed on the latest news)

These test are NOT free.. you may have no out of pocket expense but your insuance company is billed. Keep up all these testing and see how fast your premiums start rise. It ain't free. But that is besides the point.

Beg yuh please to calm down cause nat a soul naah argue wid yuh.. I respectfully disagree with the notion that all this "testing" of perfectly sober, normal and intelligent children are ligit!

it work di sed way it would if you walk inna you doctor ahn seh, "Dr. I have a headache and have had it for the last 2 weeks. I've taken Tylanol and it still wont go away."

A responsible Dr. will say ok...let us run some tests.

It's for you to choose to go or not.
If you go then di Dr can tell you that eidah you mekkin up di headache, you prone to headache when you eat blue cheese so dont eat it, you have migrane...here are you choices fi treatment, or you have tumor..so do this.

di point is you have choices to do or not do.
the more you know the better informed you will be and can make better choices.

daycare:

abu went to daycare starting at 3 months

i loved it

i knew he had structure to his life

i knew he got to go out and play everyday

that he was having books read to him everyday

that he had art and music activities everyday

that he had his little friends to play with everyday

and daycare ultimately solved the potty training issues

he loved going to daycare and i never let him see me sad when i was leaving him there - i'd say have a nice day with your friends and he did

testing:

hearing first
but at 18 months - how much talking are they doing anyway

at 3 abu was not talking - nor responding to his name when called (now i know it was defience 'cause he can hear a pin drop in my room)

i went through testing but nothing definitive was determined then

i spent a lot of time and money running to different doctors that all just did an evaluation with no suggestions for treatment (other than medication - which i wasn't going to do at that time)

i got a private speech therapist at 3 - she went to the daycare and worked with him

like kia said - he could have gone to the school for free - but i worked during the day

he had speech from 3 until last year - now i wish i could reverse it - bla bla bla

since your family is bi-lingual - she may not know which language is prefered - daycare should help with that

do the testing but don't panic

also daycare may help you determine if she has reached certain milestones - don't get upset with them when they tell you things - they see kids every day and are trying to help (most of the time)

also you may want abi and sarah to be in separate classes so sarah doesn't compensate for abi
