Thanks. You know I breathe a sigh of relief for sure now. When I found out Mom was pregnant for the 3rd time, somehow I felt like that sealed the deal with Kimmy and I. I feel for Mom, but I am glad that Kimmy gets to live a good wholesome life and break the cycle that her family members are going through. Up until this point, there is not one that is known that has made a positive effort to live a fairly decent life. I do not know them but people who do have attested to this. Maybe through Kimmy, Mom will get her act together and realize she lost one baby through negligence and carefree living. I hope we do get to interact with Junior through visitation or if she gives him up too. I want to see him live a good life as well.

Thanks, I just saw this. I am waiting patiently for that FINAL stamp as well. We were supposed to move to adoption on the 4th, but the Supervisor said the paperwork is still on his desk and he has not reviewed it yet. His stamp of approval on that will move us on and to an Adoption Specialist that was supposed to be appointed prior to 9/4. With the last Case Manager no longer on the case, I hope we don't turn out to be fish left out of the water. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img]

Good news! We are moving along. I found out last week that we have progressed from Foster Care to Adoption. We had a visit on Sunday with the new Adoption Supervisor and we have one this Sunday coming with the Adoption Case Manager. I am sooo happy!

The down side is that I have to resort to threats to get things moving and that is getting old. I had a conversation with the Foster Care Supervisor saying how displeased I am that the Agency has done NOTHING to help us get where we need to be. I have to take time out and do their job and go toe to toe with DFCS. They are supposed to be my advocates. I told her I was going to write a letter to the Director saying how displeased I was with the lack of intervention on their behalf. She apologized and promised to call me back after she get some updated info from DFCS. I am still waiting. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Meanwhile, she passed the buck to the Case Manager. What I need required a Supervisor. Fortunately, she took the ball and got it rolling. In less than 30 minutes, she found out we had been moved to Adoption and had 2 names for me who I have to deal with pertaining to the Adoption. This is the most and best she has done in the 17 months we have been thru this. But the DFCS worker that we lost, actually did the most in 3 months! She promised to move us to Adoption before she resigned on 9/4 and they did not do it until I called and asked was it done.

Thank God we have come this far. Whew! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img] We go back to court in Dec. Nobody knows if Mom has had the baby or when. I hope all is well with her and the baby. They sent me a picture of Kimmy when she was probably 3 months old and she looked well taken care of by Mom. I believe she has the potential to be a Mom if she had the proper guidance and support of responsible adults.

Meanwhile, Kimmy is still going thru this potty training thing. She will do it all day long at Daycare and will not tell me or voluntarily go at home. In fact, they said today, she cried "I gotta pee! I gotta pee!" and had to be scooped up to go potty. Tonight, she stood in front of me, assumed the pee-in-my-pull-up position, and let it rip! She wet so much it was running down her leg. In my face!!! What in the world keeps her from telling me she has to potty like she tell everyone else?? Well, we have 2 months to go before we go back to court on the TPR hearing and I feel like we may be in for a round. We have 2 adoptions Case Managers who are both 60ish and between the 2 of them, nothing has been done that was supposed to be completed since they took the case. Our Daycare has not received payment in 3 weeks because they either "can't remember" or are not in the least bit concerned that people use money to operate their businesses. One of them told me today that the expect the Foster Parents to pay the Daycare and they reimburse them. What??? I have not paid her Daycare bill in the 18 months that I have had her. My Agency paid every 2 weeks ahead of time.

If this is indicative of what to expect from them, we are in trouble. God Bless them, they both talk and act like they are just waiting for retirement and don't want anybody to aggravate them as they count down the days. It sounds like more work for me while others get paid for what I do. It will be all worth it when Kimmy is legally mine, but I have a very busy life in front of me right now with my Job and my Union, plus with Kimmy. I thought I had moved things close enough where they could take the rolling ball and run with it without my constant help. Guess I was wrong.

Yes, it seems like December is another year away. I cannot wait until we at least get the TPR hearing out of the way. Just when I think things are smoothing out, stuff happens.

The Daycare was finally paid after 3 weeks and they even paid her for this week when Kimmy was at another Daycare because I was in Athens. But not after harrassing me with phone calls to find out if I work, where I work, and if I really needed Daycare. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] After almost 1 1/2 years of paying Daycare, someone decides to verify if I need it.

If that's not enough, some unknown person calls asking to come to my house to see my ID and verify I am who I say I am and if me and Kimmy are the only ones living in my house like I claim. I could not believe what I was hearing! Why would you need all of this NOW. What about when you brought the baby to my door! I declined to have her come to my house and we met at Blockbuster's. I was fumbling for my license and she glimpsed my work ID on my keyholder and said that was sufficient. I signed me and Kimmy's name and she was on her way. I tell you!

THEN, I get a letter from a Health Dept. saying someone had services rendered to the tune of $165+ in Kimmy's name and Medicaid number. I need to check yes or no if I or someone else had the care done. What the heck?! Is it my job to play PI for something you paid for knowing anyone who went anywhere using the ID of a 2 year old, should never have been admitted or seen?? So, some clinic has committed Fraud and broken the HIPPA Law by possibly giving out my address on any paperwork she received that day. I am almost positive that it was her birth mother since they have the same name. How she was able to get away with it is amazing. I faxed the letter to the case worker on last Friday. I called on Wednesday and she says, "Oh, I never got the fax". And you did not call me on Monday to tell me because...? I will call you on Friday after I talk to Medicaid. Well, I called her on Friday and she was at a Parents home and will call me back. Either she never left or I am still waiting for her call. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Lastly, Mom called to ask for visits with Kimmy yet again. I went off on that comment. This woman tells her she has to read the files and call her back. Read what?? I have told her more than she ever needs to know about this case and she has heard. She never even asked her about the newborn she supposidly had last month or so. She is playing with the system by trying to show a record of calling for visits, knowing that she will never follow through because it would entail turning herself in and she refuses to do that. Why would she even talk to her about this? The Judge has declared our case as Non-reunification and I know that does not mean she or any family member cannot have visits, but the specifics of this case should exclude anyone in that family from interrupting this childs life after 2 1/2 years.

In the end, Kimmy will be worth every headache I have went through to get her. I love her too much to give up now, but when it is over, I will have a serious message to send to DFCS about this entire case so maybe it will help the next person who has to go through this and trust, I am NOT the only one this is happening to. Thanks Nanook. I have considered writing a book about my trials of going from Fostering to Adopting Kimmy. I suppose it would be an interesting story. You Guys would get a signed and delivered copy for sure just for listening and encouraging me. Well, I am doing the count down til December when we go back to court. The closer we get the better I feel. I got a message from the Adoption Supervisor, who emails but never calls or returns my calls, saying Kimmy will get a stipend of $200 (that was promised her in MAY and it has been pulling teeth to get 6 months later) and she will not get another clothing allowance until 7/08. It is hard for me to recommend anyone to do Foster to Adopt because of what I went through. But everybody has a different experience. It has all been worth it for having Kimmy in my life. She is one of the best children you can get out of the Foster care system. No health problems, mental or physical. She's not emotionally damaged. She has no known memory of the first 10 months of her life. She is doing so well. I thank God for her everyday and pray for His continual guidance and protection over her little life. I do not know what life would be like without her and will not dare to try and find out.

My parents were here from VA the weekend and we went to see some of our relatives who have never seen her. She was the center of attention and never realized it. But most of all, she loves my mother's husband more than any of them. When she sees him, it's "PaPa!!" When she got upset, tired or wary of someone trying to talk to her, she ran into her PaPa's arms. He is so proud. I wish she felt closer to my Mom, but in time.

Anyway, just felt like sharing.
