Overnight school trips

How young is too young for an overnight school trip?

This school has a tradition of taking the 5th graders to Washington for a weekend trip every June.

So here we are. I have not sumbitted a deposit or paid for the trip.

I think every hotel room has a chaperone from the little bit I have learned so far.

I was never allowed to go on any overnight.....or away from home school trips. My granmere tell the school point blank am not going and if they have a problem she will home school me.....<span style="font-style: italic">tremor at her home schooling</span> I think the first time I went on an overnight school trip I was sixteen.....

Her reasoning I do not trust those perverted pedophiles who get into child care so they can molest u children and she said.....I will expire every last one of them I used to be so mad but could not show it I would get a licking wid the wooden spoon for<span style="font-weight: bold"> pouting </span>as she called it

For me it's a no for several reasons, main one being that 11 is too young.

It's not mandatory Sue, but even if it were I'd just submit a note to the Principal
citing religious reasons

A joke but yuh can get out of everything if you mention religion

I think it would be a very historical trip for her if she has not been to DC.. lots of things
to do in the summer, that would keep them busy,

If I was not going and my 11yo was..I would have to be sure of the sleeping arrangements..

Is it a large class, and what is the ratio of chaperones to kids..

11 is borderline, but I let my daughter do one at that age, but that was many moons ago.

I don't know the logistics and the school hasn't offered up any. I haven't inquired because I had no intentions of sending her from the get go.

One day eventually as a child she will get to Washington, just not with the school on a 3 day trip

I don't want to be a chaperone either too much pickney mek mi get migraine.

the thought of you being a chaperone cause if the recorder a mad you mi can imagine one bunch of 11 year old (they constantly buzz)

my daughter went on her first overnight when she was seven at brownies.. she went skiing last month when she was ten,, she was magnificent....

We took day trips in elementary school like to the state capital, but no overnighters until high school. Looking back we were probably less likely to get in trouble in elementary school.

My son in 5th grade has an all day trip to another state. They leave in the morning and come back around 9 pm.

I'm kinda about this little trip already, don't know how i would react to the overnight trip.
