More foreigners securing jobs in Jamaica
More foreigners are coming to Jamaica to work.
That's according to information contained in the Economic and Social Survey of Jamaica 2005.
It says last year, the Ministry of Labour granted approval for 6,000 persons to work in Jamaica, a 58 percent increase over the figure reported in 2004.
Of the total approvals, 3,300 applications were categorised as new compared to just over 2,000 in the previous year.
The majority of work permits were for persons in the professionals, senior officials and technicians group.
The number of work permits approved in this category increased by 57 percent to 4,750.
