Well mi not going full vegetarian - but I want some alternatives for those days wen mi jus cyaan stomach de meat.

I will also still eat eggs and cheese so I thinking stuff like eggy cheesy type entrees. jus haffe search some more fe fine wat mi have in mine.

Try tofu again. It's funny how one bad dish can turn you off- it was like that for me and soymilk.

I like to rub dry seasonings onto the tofu before preparing- just like you would with meat. Nasoya makes an extra firm tofu that's good. But then there's always the meat analogues (Morningstar, Worthington, Boca etc) to help get you started. You probably shouldn't overdo those though, because they are processed.

As for gluten, that's a really good form of protein. If you can find vital wheat gluten you won't have to spend 1/2 an hour washing a ball of dough under running water (that's how my mom used to make it back in the day).

Wadadli - mi ah go look fe de gluten cause my mom used to make this when I was a kid and I really liked it...

ok seriously now - mi buy wan meatless penne quick meal - you know like the frozen lean cuisines... - mi feget de brand name...

but yessideh mi decide fe have it fe lunch an it taste like DIRT - all wen mi lace it wid scotch bonnet peppa mi still coulden eat it...

mi had to run go dung de chinese restaurnat an orda wan chiken in garlic sauce


Skelly mi have some tofu ah soak inna some wata wid salt and some msg an dry seasoning - I am really hoping it will taste betta dan wen mi did try it dat wan time

So I did do my tofu dish today - this is what it looked like and even if I say so myself - it did taste good...





Of course I had to make some carnivorous dishes as well - poas dat inna de sunday nymammins thread...

I made a nice broccoli and broad bean soup / stew for dinner tonight and before I forget just how I made it, I'll share that with you in case that's something you would like.

Broccoli - Broad Bean Soup</span>

Soak dry broad beans about 1 1/2 cups for 4 hours.

Cut into big chunks 3 stocks of broccoli (maybe 4 cups of broccoli chunks) and put it into a pot of water, about 6 cups of water. Add 1/2 chopped onion and 4 - 5 large cloves of garlic. Add salt.

Boil Broccoli, onion and garlic until broccoli is tender but not over cooked, so it is still bright green in color.

Remove broccoli with a slotted spoon, leaving the broth in the pot. Put the the broccoli into a blender and blend on high speed until it is a creamy consistency, adding broth if needed to keep it moving. I do this in 2 batches, so the blender doesn't get too full at once. After it is all blended add the broccoli back into the broth and add the broad beans to it.

To that broth you can add a pkg of vege soup base if you need it/ like it or have it. To that add 1 1/2 cups of cubed potato, white or black pepper, fresh thyme and parsley. Add more water if needed.

Bring it to a boil and then bring the heat down to a slow boil and cook for about 45 minutes until the beans are soft. I leave the lid only half on to allow the moisture to escape, allowing the soup to thicken.

Once the beans are cooked add one carrot and half a cho-cho, sliced into bite sizes. Also add 1/2 pkg of coconut milk power, mixing it into a paste with water before putting it in the pot. To that add about 3 Tbsp of coconut oil to add body.

You can add scotch bonnet, pimento or more salt if you like.

I served it with whole grain bread.

If you want it to be a heavier more substantial stew, add spinners or dumplings when you add the beans. You can also add yellow yam slices to it if you like.

It is healthy and tasty and maybe a good first course to a meal. For me I love soup a lot so soup alone will work.

I ate it with rice and peas and the other stuff I had prepared for dinner... I like my onions cut in rings so I can pick them out before I eat - I only like the flavor of onions not the texture.
