you can have people on ignore and STILL see their response, whether you wanted to or not, IF you use the Active Topics button to navigate discussions.

So, if you don't use Active Topics to see the latest threads, then you don't see the responses of people you're ignoring. BUT if you click Active Topics - then, you won't be able to help it, unless you condition yuself fi lookweh fast.
