now that most of my friends kids are now in their twenties...for the ones that have good relationships with them NOW, it makes me think a minute.

childrearing is tough work, not something i felt so strongly about. not the tough work part, the child part. I've often said, if i could have been guaranteed a boy, i'd have been tempted. I could see my husband being more helpful with a boy child...he's a man child himself...so i couldn't get warm to the idea of having to do most of the childrearing...and everything else myself. I don't think this marriage would have lasted children.

i think if you're going to have a child....you should be darn sure about WANTING to raise one...it's a long expensive haul, you may end up doing alone...and sometimes, you can do everything right...and the kid still hates you. getting through the teen years....eeek.

the bigger worry for me is

who gonna take care of me and come visit me in my old age?

i am the baby of five....my siblings did nuff breeding, their kids did nuff breeding. I've lost count how many great great grands my mom has...its a whole lot. i'm sure one of them will take pity on their favorite aunty.

BUT WAIT!! this ain't about NOT having children....or me.

Ok ILP, mek mi answer you serious now...


We both wanted children.
We talked about it very early in our relationship, and it was the common goal that kept us together most times.
It was like we were on a mission

I swear I could hear my clock ticking louder every day


What we would do once we got a child, should have been discussed a LOT more



I have a question for you tho...

What is it that makes you NOT want children??

Because I don't think it's the work, or the economy

I <span style="font-weight: bold">know</span> that you love them cause I seen you bawl down the place evertime one pops out




What's the real issue??




On the advice side I would seek out parenting classes.
Mek him go and see and learn what it <span style="font-style: italic">really </span>takes.
Make sure that your parenting styles are in line, because that can ruin a relationship quicker than anything



Bottom line, do not have a baby unless YOU want to!




Would he want to become Mr.ILP first??

I only regret not having kids when I see di current mr ilp and the fact that he obviously wants one.
Sometimes I see them and then ask myself &quot;what it&quot;, but then that <span style="text-decoration: underline">quickly</span> passes

ETA: I dont think a getting the paper (as in marriage) will make di current mr ilp ahn i more committed to each other that we already are. a marriage also wouldnt guarantee anything if a kid was in the picture either.

No issue really. I see the outcomes of people who have children and ummm....well... they shouldnt have.
Having AND raising children is nothing to ramp wid. It is expensive and requires nerves and mental fortitude that I am not sure I possess. &lt;-----(I dont feel like it is right to have the kid and then find out I dont have what it takes).
The one thing I dont want is to raise/rear (sp) a kid alone. So many variables come into play when it comes to that and again since I am a control freak and cant guaratee myself that I wouldnt end up doing it alone....well...
as for making di current mr ilp more current...that wouldnt guarantee anything as far as a kid is concerned.
