well now...i have not read all the comments in this thread...so i'll just jump in...on today...my 25th anniversary.

i know prior to meeting my spouse...i did not see men as the be all, end all. i surely didn't define who i was based on how some man might view me. in that i'd barely been in any committed relationships, it was easy to view them as companions...but NOT a necessary ingredient in my day to day life.

fast forward (well slow forward) to 2008. After you've spent a good portion of your life (well HALF!) with another person day in and day out...in happiness and in sorrow, good times and bad ...that being your spouse...at least for me...YES, i would have a hard time adjusting to life solo. It's hard NOT to define myself as half of the whole that is or has been our life together. In most decisions that i have to make...i need to consider that other half...vacations, weekends, what to watch on the tube...many decisions made together. It would be a big change to not have to consider my other half in decision making.

am i my own person...somewhat. am i also part of a team? yes. he is my family...now does that mean i define myself by whether i have a man? i guess it does at this point in my life.

go ahead...you can call me a hopeless sap.

I very much doubt whether men are as concerned about which women are single and getting it and who is not, as much as you think,.......there is really nothing to &quot;ovastand&quot;,..men dont get as angsty over these matters as women do,..we havent got &quot;time clocks&quot; to worry about.

As an example,..you would never see a man post a thread such as this one under discussion,if we are single,..its usually out of choice,or if it isnt then most men would just see being single as a great opportunity to go out and drop as much baggy as possible,.....from single or married women.
