Maybe she didnt realized that there could be some brainwashing in hte home, that would cause the kids to turn from her, like Nunya said... but I'm surprised that her efforts ended at that visit- She didnt reach out to other relatives, the authorities for help? She never wrote her children (even if the letters were returned), or wrote to the father in attempts to slowly rebuild some semblance of a r/ship?
