plenty jamaican parents do that too and wonder why the child treat the parents a certain way .. sending for them 10 or even more years they have been away and have not worked extensively to develop a relationship with their child when they gone a farrin.

btw developing a relationship is not sending money & barrels but is TIME spent with the child

my ex (hs sweet heart)went thru smth similar....his mom abandoned him at age 3...he suffered terrible abuse from his dad and step mom...bounced around from relative to relative...wen he was in his early 20's his mom finally sent for him...the relationship between the two is non existent...

My aunt left jamaica and came up here (with my mother's sponsorship). She cried every single day for 2 years until she was able to send for my 2 cousins. It was kinda rocky when they first arrived. One of my cousins went buck wild, she blamed my aunt for a long time for leaving them. They are alright now, but it was a time, I tell you.
