In the case i know, the mistress has been a part of his life for many years, wife knows, but doesnt condone of course, just accepts the reality. The wife at the funeral, usually a dignified woman, was anything but- she raged and caused a scene, until mistress was encouraged to leave by others as well. Wife had to be restrained from physically removing mistress (from the planet was probably her intent ).

Well the mistress 'stole' him while he was alive, maybe wife thinks she should have some control in his death? If funerals are truly for the living, shouldnt they be able to grieve the way they want to, without comparison, competition (who grieves better, looks better), and controversy (gossip)? Maybe thats one of the costs of being illicit, you dont have rights?

My granpere had a mistress.....I knew about her.....my Mom found out long after I did......granpere swore me to secrecy I found out accidentally. Granmere never knew and I am glad my Mom never told her or else she would have done wey Skelly wudda do

Little background.....granmere was a cold individual.....yes I know you should not talk about the dearly departed in this way....but...anyway. She would make sure you have the material things.....clothes, meals, riding lesson, piano lessons, skiiig....but no love either for me or granpere and my Mom the same way. And because she was cold does not mean she was a bad person just the way she was.

Found out later that their marriage was an arranged one....makes sense anyway! because my granmere was so cold to my granpere I guess he sought and found comfort and love where he could. Kept his little secret until the day my granmere died and dont feel anyway....I would do it for him again in a heartbeat.

He married his mistress one year after my granmere died....my Mom detest her....she mistress does not care....she is not the type that they can intimidate....sweet me iiesi....dem only concerned if granpere die she will get some of what they should get. Anyway I like her.....think she is a nice lady and we get along great....bun me madda iiesi when they have function they do not include her in the invite so granpere juss doan go and when he have function he just does not invite them.

I remember when I was bout twelve or so....she was yelling something in Swedish to my granpere meaning him oversexed....so I asked her why she tell granpere that.....and what it mean... she said children should not listen to grownup conversation....I said well I am not deaf.... should have known better and kept my mouth shut got a licking with the wooden spoon for that. So she moved me to a bedroom down the hall far from their room and said &quot;ungen har stort ga i ax&quot; ....meaning little one have big ears....never get to hear anything after that

I know in a heartbeat if granmere had a lover I would have told granpere

I know of a situation like this The wife is just there for the prestige as you said. She dogs this man out...call im all sorta name an claim im is no good.
