I echo some of the other comments that I would not be OK with him using a coupon on the first date. The idea that he does not know that it is a problem in itself. Future embarrassment is on the way.

It does not mean I would completely cut him off. He may have some other redeeming qualities. It does mean if we did get to know each other better that I would tease him mercilessly about it later though lol.

But it could be presented quite discretely, no? He;d just pull it feom his pocket and slip it into that little book with the tab- you'd probably never even notice. (Unless that no-good waitress came back with a question or some explanation like- ' SIr please be aware that the tip is not included in the coupon ) )

Though, I have been out with a man to a very fancy Asian restaurant and the food was good. Come to find out that he frequents the restaurant and has a VIP card there where he earns points. That is different than the coupon clipper.

But nowadays if we planning to eat out willy nilly ...mi fus a offa up some coupon weh mi cut out an it may decide where we go. She's saying they are unequally yoked.

While every woman is not looking for a man to take care of her, most do want him to at least have equal financial resources.

Also, although many men won't admit it, a lot of them want to be the major breadwinner. Maybe it's simply that they don't know it, but I have never seen a couple where the woman makes more that there does not end up with resentment on one or both sides.

Chulip ... I know many cases where the woman makes more and there is no resentment because the man brings in enough dough to make a good contribution and are comfortable with themselves for it not to make a difference.

It could be gold digging in some cases where the woman is looking for a handout, but I don't think that's always what it means. I often hear people say two can live as cheaply as one. That is not true.

If a woman is accustomed to a certain lifestyle that's she is maintaining herself, and a man comes in with a less costly lifestyle, it's not equal. Something has to be balanced and everyone is not willing to move down.

Really? I don't know not a one. It's not that I have not seen people pretend like it doesn't matter and then say other things when venting behind the scenes. However, a couple truly happy with the arrangement, I have not seen. Apparently, most people I know are not that secure.
