Oh, now I get what you are saying. Lol, I was relaying a story to you and that's the way you took it, if you knew who I was married to then you wouldn't draw that conclusion.

These are two incidents in the barrage of incidents that have happened in oru relationship, so you can't really base my personality on those two incidents.

Be careful when u say it may work for me, those two incidents probably garnered the response because he was caught off guard but that is never something I would do regularly, matta a fac, I highly doubt I'd do that again.

I've grown up some in the past two years though so maybe that's it, but I think as humans we tend to venture on the extreme side at times but it is not our nature.

I have learned to handle things in a different way now. E.g. I don't like a certain friend, I don't yell and scream and say I hate your friend, I simply am cordial,not nice but cordial.

Though I would never promote violence, I can understand why many would excuse it as a rational approach or acceptable behavior, because our society often exhibits a number of contradictory, sometimes overlapping responses to violence.

Violence plays itself out in various ways but the root cause is usually the same, and unless the cause is addressed, the effect will not change. People will either grow to accept it, laugh along or practice complete avoidance.

Either way, violence, regardless of its level or frequency tend to result in spousal alienation.

Just be careful, conscious and realistic about each situation and measure your reaction level. Isn't life too short...they say?

Whoaaaa there, it nuh dat serious. I fail to beleive that everyone is so in harmony that they have never exhibited any questionable behavior and have laughed about it while at the time it wasn't funny.

Not promoting violence or anything but the last time me and my husband had that really big fight where I was flinging tools and furniture we conceived after a serious bout of make up sex. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

At the end of it all Marie, we both did alot of growing up and learned to let things go. It's just not worth getting aggravated over petty things.

LOL, well, I hear you Mrs M, but it still is what it is.

You can't deny that many marriages fall apart due to violence, no matter how minimal it may seem.

Make up sex? That too, only last for a little while. It is used as an excuse by many until "something better and less stressful" comes along. BOAL poor yuh, no sweetie pie, I know of many more marriages that last for 60 years with both people unhappy because dem nuh show no emotions.

Too much Dr. Phil is what I call it I don't beleive in a volatile atmosphere, can't thrive in it.

Ok let me say this. In relationships, you have to be true. I spent many years in one where I dind't let me feelings be known and I didn't react, I said something it wasn't taken seriously I'd back down, nwo it is not so and this is the most healthy relationship I have been in despite the ups and downs, you see what Dr. Phil and Oprah doesn't tell you is that relationships are hard, but you can't give up.

On our first arguments I packed my bags and left and said divorce. My parents said "are you crazy" go back there. I check into a hotel and realised, we have never discussed this particular problem before so we discussed it.

The others were the same except for one which still lingers.

The purpose of growing up is not to get old it is to learn. Have I learned not to destroy stuff, yes, because that money that he spent to replace 2 computers could have gone into our savings and has he learned to take me seriously you bet ya.

I think it's sad to stay in any unhappy union but staying in a marriage for 60 years being unhappy? That is criminal. I can see that happening in past generations though, since there was less information/options available.

Thanks to Dr. Phil, and others like him, the right attention is being placed on these types of situations, and many are getting out of those unhealthy unions.

IT IS from what you have described an dysfunctional situation and it is violent, no matter how you cut it. Ok are you on something? YOu mean to tell me that you think it is very normal for a person to naturally NEVER get upset or frustrated, you really think it is normal for people to never have arguments. And when I say natural I do mean non-medically induced state of bliss.

Dysfunctional, the only thing dysfunctional in my life was a past relationship this is as healthy as a horse, finally I can say what I want to, when I want to and not be afraid of some ridiculous comment or think oh maybe that will hurt his feelings so here I'll bottle mine.

Have you any idea what it is like to be constantly watching everything you do around your mate, never saying what you feel because you are not sure of the reaction. Yup that's right, Dr. Phil wasn't up there sitting with Oprah having tea with Donohue saying, Lord, this is how I think humans should be based on my book, movie, speech or periodical (from which they are all profiting) and even if that were so from what I can tell, God isn't a yes man so it wouldn't have been so.

We are all humans, we make mistakes, we have emotions and the best thing in life is to be free in thoughts and actions and come to a compromise and live happy, over 7,000 lives have been lost trying to fight for this.

But guess what, if you think I am dysfunctional and so is my life, then hey, I welcome dysfunction, at least I did yesterday when mi come home from work sick like a dog and dinner was already on the table, him neva cook ie but him buy ie, and I am sure he welcomes dysfunction also, especially when he is enjoying the many things I do just to make life easier and better for us.

If we are dysfunctional, then my entire family is dysfunctional, all my friends, presidents, the entire world is dysfunctional, while you my dear are simply above and beyond normal. I have a friend who has sunk about 2,500 into therapist, they are rich and happy wonderful home life and she is still LONELY, BITTER and will die MISERABLE, life isn't a book, stop reading and live it.
