"kissing teeth" as Jamaicans call it, is Caribbean wide, a legacy that comes over from Africa. In the eastern Caribbean we call it "suck teeth."

Funny this thread comes up an hour after I was explaining it to my son. He tells me that now he thinks of it only kids in his class born in the Caribbean or to Caribbean parents do this.

Black Americans call it sucking teeth. I don't know if it's mostly a southern thing. olderlittleboyblue attempts it sometimes and I let him know that he will be picking up his teeth. Which is pretty much what I would expect if I ever did it around my mother, aunt or grandmother. Even now.</span>

I agree it can be rude but at the same time how does kissing a person rear factor in kissing teeth </div></div>

telling someone to kiss your rear is just another way of saying yu don't care..dismissing them..

I got into so many fights as a kid over sucking teeth...it was right up there with rolling eyes as a fight-starter in my neighborhood.
