Exactly. The contract says that each party gives two weeks notice if either party wants to terminate participation on the project.

I am not good at weighing pros and cons right down to the $ . I am one of those people who just go with what I feel is right. And I don't know what I feel with this idea of part-time employee vs. consultant </div></div>

maybe the issue is dem have some salary room but dem need to cut operating expense so dem want to move you from one side to the other.
a plus might be going part time might extend the engagement.

what kind of operating expense would a contractor cost?

I am on a specific project funded through 2013 so I am billable to that project.

Last month they had an attorney on a contract and her project funding ran out (or really, wasn't renewed) so she had to leave.

what kind of operating expense would a contractor cost?

I am on a specific project funded through 2013 so I am billable to that project.

where i work money to pay contractors does not come out of salary pool..it comes under daily operating expenses.

so when there is pressure to reduce salary expenditure you see more contractors ..when there is pressure to reduce operating expenses they get rid of contractors but might hire more employees.

I see. Wonder if this is the issue?

So should I negotiate for higher salary? There will be benefits involved, included health insurance. They are very unusual for a U.S. company in that they pay 100% of health insurance premium. So this is a plus.

ask dem for what makes you comfortable. but you have t be in line wid what dem would pay somebody full time.

so just because as a contractor you making $225 an hour nuh mean yuh can mek dat as a P/T employee
