I'm with your friend on that dealbreaker. There's nothing wrong with hanging out around the house, but if the man doesn't even take you out at the beginning, then imagine what you have to look forward to when he's no longer on his best behavior.

I know a lot of men are consumed with the fear of being used. They are scared to pay for a date for fear of attracting a gold digger - never mind that they don't have two nickels to rub together in the first place. That's just cheap and weak in my opinion. Why would I want to be with somebody who always has to wait and see what I'm going to do before they do something? I want a man, not a mouse.

I got the impression that they had begun a dating r/ship of sorts, but she was put off by his impromptu visit. Phone play is my termin I guess due to distance apart and work skeds, they spent much time getting to know each other on the phone, rather than face to face encounters. She seems to love the romance of dating and getting to know someone well, and she did read the book of rules (wait till the xth date before going to the next level etc ).
