I love my depo shot!! I don't plan on having anymore kids anyway. I just have to take calcium vitamins and drink plenty of milk to keep my bones strong and healthy.. Its been almost 10 yrs since I have had my friend.

I don;t believe in any form of birth control that prevents or delys having your period... There is a natural cycle that the female body is supposed to follow.. personally I think we open ourselves to problems down the road by trying to circumvent the natural progression of things.

no matter how much research and what the odds are. if I see people around me, who are like me, come from a similar place like me, live in the same area like me, eat like me (the list goes on) and I see certain things happen to them. that personal experience is going to override what is on a piece of paper to me.

and honestly they could be very different from me too. Personal experience still holds more weight, cause just the chance of it happening is enough for me to raise mi yeyebrows and question. </div></div>If I had known what that depo would do to my body I would have run far far from it. I wish I had asked someone or ever googled the sideeffects. it was not till after/during my problems that I managed to find za website soley dedicated to women who have had bad side effects from depp...do nobdda axe mi a wha it name as mi noh memba.

me too Silva...that was one of the worst times of my life...I was about 19 when this happened.......it affect every aspect of my life.....imagine a period that lasted for 5 months (longer fi silvabatty) and problems that arise from that somedays I barely had enough strength to go to the bathroom...... and the foo-fool doctor that did not take the time to explain or fix the problem


plus the not having flo fi x amount atime thing too scary fi even imagine to fawt

I thought I was the only one to share this view. Periods are a way of cleansing the system. Omission of such things always makes me think of reproductive cancer and abnormalities down the road.

now mi can't find the article but this weekend I was reading an article that states that women with PCOS (which I have MUST normalise their cycle by exercise and medication) because if you don't you are at a much higher risk of cancer. It is necessary for the body to go through a menses cycle ever so often.

I don't think it is safe to stop it for an extended period of time.

no your not. that why I am so concerned about the risks. you want to have the convience of birth control but at the risk of other things that convience isn't looking so good. And b/c regular periods are necessary you are looking at some serious risks.

So anyone on here ever tried the diapharm (sp)? Just looking into some other safer choices for the future.

yes. you need to be measured by your gynecologist. the only drawback is that you have to leave it in for up to 6 hours. it's also advisable that you use spermicide with it and boy does that stuff burn [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] if you happen to be sensitive to certain chemicals [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

<span style="color: #3333FF">The only birth control I've ever used other than condoms is the pill. I used it for a while as a teenager, then stopped because I wasn't sexually active enough to need something daily like that.

I started using it again later to regulate my period. Now I'm back to just condoms. I was always afraid of the level of hormones in things like the shot and the five sticks and the patch and such.

Periods are like a negative pregnancy test for ME...(I know alot of women cannot go by this to determine that they aren't pregnant)...but the only time my period never came was when I was pregnant.

the rhythm method isn't difficult if you're regular. however, if you are absolutely 1,0000% positive you don't want kids i wouldn't rely on it because you can ovulate at anytime in your cycle!!!

there are other mechanical methods, eg. sponges, foams &lt;-- again if your sensitive to certain chemicals don't go there. there's also the vaginal contraceptive film.
