Bandanna ... she's in too deep and can't seem to figure out how to get out of a very bad relationship. Oblivious, or maybe addicted to love... you guess.

Resignation of self…

By this time I had resigned myself to the fact that Ray was sleeping with another woman. I accepted it. He knows that I knew and there was a wordless agreement between us on it. The agreement was “Don’t mess up in my extra-marital affairs, else we are done.” He also knew that I desperately love him. I always told him whenever we made love. I never heard it returned to me. There were others yet to come and I was killing myself slowly as I sunk into a deep dark depression, losing weight rapidly and not listening to the wise words of my family and friends to leave Ray.

His wife returns…

Ray’s wife returned home. She was actually in college overseas doing her graduate. I found this out through friends who knew friends who knew friends. By this time, Ray and I were full steam into our relationship. Somehow his assistant left her job. I heard he fired her. I was now getting his full attention at least that was my thought. In doing my own detective work, I found out that Ray was seeing a teller at his bank, an advertising manager he does business with and God he knows who else. Ray was also aware that I knew of his philandering but I could not step over that boundary to question or threaten him. I was in love and would do anything … short of committing murder to keep this man in my arms. I sacrificed my dignity, my humility and my shame to keep him using me. No one could tell by looking at me, but my self esteem and self worth had hit a high time low. I was aware of it, but did not want to do any thing about it.

With his wife being back home, I could not spend nights over. We found other places to make love and continue our illicit affair. Some times we were bold and build on the excitement of making out at his home during the work lunch hours. Ray clearly had no shame, despite him being an extremely smart, well educated man who was rapidly making his way up the corporate ladder. He was highly respected by his peers and recognised throughout the business world. I was starting to hate him, yet I desperately needed his companionship and seek out his touch and what I felt to be his love.

Pregnant…

The day I found out I was pregnant; my world felt like it was shattered. Here I am in my mid twenties, struggling to finish my graduate course, saving for the future and pregnant for a married man, who clearly did not care about me. Our affair was becoming more down than up. I had never once accused Ray of being a philandering sex fiend but I so often found myself crying to him of how much I love him and not wanting him to go. I did things that were immature and unlike my character – such as calling his house whilst his wife was there. I was truly becoming a very desperate person and felt like I was spinning out of control. Ray told me I was spinning out of control with my antics and I must stop, else he leaves. When I told him of my pregnancy, his first thought was one of disbelief. That I was using the old tried and proven method of “tying him down”. The man clearly did not trust me and I was once again devastated.

My body did not carry the pregnancy through. I lost it. My feeling about the pregnancy was mixed. I was incredibly unhappy about the loss, as I had started feelings of attachment to the being inside me. I started making my long term plans and during those times, Ray was clearly out of the picture. I did not call him, refused to take his calls and I somehow was starting to feel better about myself. After the pregnancy loss, I became depressed and Ray was at my side consoling me. That made me felt better – it seems he was concerned and was genuinely saddened by the loss. I am not too sure now. We got back together, spending time together and making out like old lovers.
