You can't be serious.

Okay. I'm not even going to address the idea that marriage is a trap to force men to support their children. Why should a man have to be forced to support his children. Besides, I don't think there's been any mention of marriage in this thread.

Granted, unemployment is high, particularly in the Black community. And I can understand a situation where a man tries to get a job and is unsuccessful. But there are many that don't even bother to try. I don't have the option of not having a job. And I work damn hard (most of the time) because I have responsibilities to my children.

You think it's wrong that a court should be able to order men, even unemployed men, to pay child support? Oh, so women should just wait for the man to grow up and be a responsible adult? Please, the damn children will grow up before he will. So he gets angry at being forced to do what he should be doing anyway and he takes it out on the children? That's understandable? Still sounds like he needs to grow up to me.

As far as the man being put on a schedule, whatever. If he wants to be a once a month father, once every couple of months father, whenever the mood strikes him father, some women will put up with that, some won't. For me, I don't say anything negative about my children's father to my children, but I don't make excuses for him, either. If they want to see him, they go directly to the source to ask him. Let him take the responsibility of saying yes or no. It might hurt them when he doesn't want to see them, but they're going to be hurt regardless. Better they know the reality than some fantasy.

I'm sure that there are some women that use child support as their own income. I don't believe that's the case for the majority. Could be, but I don't believe it. I think that more often than not, whatever petty cash comes in child support is largely outweighed by what's spent in providing for the children.

And yes, any father that allows anger, pettiness and whatever else keep him from being a presence in the lives of their children will have it come back to haunt him when the children grow up. The same goes for women that keep their children from the father out of anger, bitterness or spite.</span>

Ummm NO..I think if you ask most women they will say that they really don't care if the father wants to sign up and be a part of the "jackass show" on his own time, however, when the child is in his custody it is up to him to use common sense and be responsible.
