Unacceptable behavior

How do you handle your guests who behave unacceptably, not even from your house "rules" standpoint per se, but in general?

Scenario 1. Your friend is flying to Asia and will need to leave from an airport close to your home. She asks if you could accomodate her for two nights as she will be driving for 6 hours. You said yes.

On the day of arrival, she called and asked if it would be okay to bring a friend along (willing to sleep on the couch) as they were planning to travel together and the "friend" suggested that they carpool (last minute) and help her to drive to Boston. You said "sure, no probs".

They arrived, you chatted they said they were hungry and would be going out to eat. You said, cool, and decided to go upstairs and take care of some paper work. About an hour later you went back downstairs to see the following:

-- Chinese food takeout containers strewed across your kitchen counters along with coke cans and wine bottles

-- Your laptop opened with shrimp and chicken wing grease all over the keyboard

-- Your friend is fast asleep on your couch - fully clothed (couch is beige)

-- Downstairs bathroom taps greasy and toilet unflushed with nail polish remover opened on sink and cotton swabs used to remove polish in toilet. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

-- Your friend's friend is in your kitchen washing her white blouse in your kitchen sink. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

What would you do?

Well, u never know how ppl stay, annuh everybody have common sense or broughtupsy...u shoodan gi dem yuh house rules from dem reach deh

I don't really have any house rules, but now I am really thinking about it. Is that a common thing to have house rules?

I certainly have had to learn the hard way and will write and post MY rules for any future guests, because of the fracas that followed. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

Mi have house rules. never thought about writing them out.

But certain things have to be done 'a way' and set up 'a way' when yuh cum a mi yaad. If is smaddy mi know good good an will feel comfortable a fi cuss an trace an carry on bad if dem do sumting den mi naw lay dung no rules...

but like in ur case where she brought a friend....mi woodan set dem str8 as dem reach.

I hear you.

My friend is a college buddy but it was her friend who created the real mess. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] I felt that it was my friend's responsibility to ensure that her friend not make a mess of my house. She tried to clean it up after I lost my organic mind on them, but why was she so neglectful? I felt that they both disrespected my home. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

I could not believe my eyes when I went downstairs and saw the mess. And furthermore, the biatch washing her nasty blouse in my kitchen sink? Has anyone ever heard of such madness? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad2.gif[/img] How do you wash your clothes in the kitchen sink? There is a sink in the downstairs bathroom, and a tub and sink upstairs, yet she chose to wash them among my cups, plates, utensils etc?

There was hair from eyebrow plucking it seemed, nail polish streaks (which could easily be washed away) and other unidentifiable particles. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

Well, ehhm...that is what I did. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img] I told them both to clean up or get tha hell out! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img]

I was so angry. It reminded me of the movie with Steven Martin and the dozens of kids. It was unreal and a good thing my son was away for the weekend.

What made it worse, was that my plans were to spend a relaxing weekend alone, and then this...
