Of course it works that way for women; for the most part men don't care too much about what a person thinks of their age unless they are trying to pick up a younger woman. Even then, rightly or wrongly, they try to equate age with experience and maturity. There are many women over 28 who are proud of their age and have no problems revealing it. If a woman looks older than her age then yes, I can see a potential issue but if she is holding her own or looks younger than she really is, what is the big deal? Individuals have no control over how old they really are.

With all due respect, you have clearly never been on a dating site or attended a singles event or watched Millionaire Matchmaker. Even men in their 50s and 60s state that they are looking for women from 18 - 28 and this is almost without exception. For a woman to reveal her age is a handicap in the corporate world as well.

Perhaps you just don't know this...unless you are hiding it from us I don't think you are not a chi-chi man so I guess you haven't spent time browsing men's profiles on line.

The bottom line is that a man can never be too old or too ugly....as long as he has money. Age is held against women and any woman who in serious denial or a bare faced

I never have been able to understand why the women on this site are in such denial. Reminds me of a crop of Jamaican women in Toronto who fought anyone who talked about reality. Eventually their relationships or marriages all did mash up and every last one a dem did tun lesbian.

Well you've been warned. If I had a dollar for the number of times I have interviewed candidates and had to fight with hiring directors and managers who were unwilling to hire people over a certain age I would be a very rich woman.

It's illegal in Canada to discriminate against candidates based on age but trust me it happens. I know for a fact that some people would not have been hired if I hadn't fought for them....and believe you me the arguments got heated a times. Of course, they will never tell you that is why you didn't get the job.

Just be careful.

Even if you don;t disclose your age - I am sure any prospective employer will be able to deduce it based on the year you graduated college + years of experience + when dem see you in real life for the interview...

There is no way to successfully hide your age in that scenario. Especially since I hear some are pulling credit reports now so you know everything is revealed there. I think it's silly to hide your age - I earned and enjoyed every single year and am proud of it.

quite frankly any employer which would use this as a criteria is probably not somewhere I would want to work anyway.

But Tropi if we no experience or have been exposed to what u talking bout u prefer we tell lie and agree with you. I am not asking any one to tell lies. It is one thing to say "I have not experienced it" and quite another to try to put me down when I am actually giving you some really good advice and warning you to be careful.

Mi naw go baddah....companies and individuals pay me for advice. So my bad for giving it away for free when it is clearly no appreciated. Next time I see someone heading into a precipice, if they haven't paid me for advice...I will not say a thing.
