u have joint accounts for your bills etc. and then keep separate accounts so that each has their discretionary funds to do as the like.

the problem isnt the accounts but the fact that both parties have to be active in managing the accounts.

we pay bills together , we do we budget planning together..

when I was home (ie nat working outside jab) I managed the day to day accounts and we shared decisions on the investments.

Now we set time aside to manage it all and communicate

Ditto what Kia said. We have one account for bills and stuff and one for Rainy Day and thats it. I pay the bills for the most part...but we manage the money together. AND the only reason it works for us is because we have the same "spending Philosophy".
