worth tre-peating;

i've probably pizzed off every black woman i come in writer's distance of but i don't care;
something very sick that so many of us don't want to be caught dead with our god-given coils;

i don't see korean women forcing their daughters to get afro perms or cornrows or dreadlock weaves...

then i hear all this crap about 'black women don't do this & black women don't do that because of their hair'

or crap like 'when you're sleeping with a black woman don't touch this or don't do that';

but i know someday this travesty will change

It makes me sick to see on a Jamaican site, a porto rikkan telling a sister that "her hair want cream" after reading about her discussing her natural tresses in this forum, and NO ONE, I MEAN NO ONE CALLED HIS DUMB ASSS ON THAT!

Just tells you how ingrained the problem lies.

give thanks for the strength;

well i've been to puerto rico;
and let me say i left there more determined than ever to fight the scourge of the 'good hair' brainwash;
the ironic thing is that many were fascinated with my locks, some asking me if their hair was 'bad enough' to get them too

i kept telling them i consider my hair good and yours bad

i think i threw them for a loop because they probably never heard a black guy break it down like that to them before;
i would say it proudly & without apology-
i consider THIS good hair

It is past time white Americans stop acting like we are the foreign, exotic, strange other here to be commodified and controlled and start acting like we're people with our own aesthetics, own cultural norms, and our own experiences.
