decide how big u want the locks to be...separate the hair into the section one at a time...twist it...i.e. with each section , further divide into two and twist those two parts...that is all u have to do really...all that junk about using wax etc is not necessary...it only allows stuff to get stuck in the hair and as u will not be combing the strands, wateva gets stuck in the wax etc will be there foreva an eva ....until the hair starts to lock u cannot wash his hair or the twists will seperate...so clean the scalp using Sea Breeze or some other astringent...after u clean wid the astringent, because it is also a drying agent, wipe the scalp with water and massage in some olive oil ..try not to use the commercial hair oils which have heavy parts of petroleum as petroleum is heavy and will juss clog up the pores of the scalp not to mention make anything stick to the hair...once hair starts to lock u can wash and twist new growth...i would not recommend that u use the comb to twist as is done so much in beauty shops...it puts a tightness to hair roots which is damaging in the long run...as for shampoos, try to stay away from ones wid a lot of alcohol..also a drying agent...groom the hair by using a tweezer or similar thing to take any foreign objects from locks ....once anything gets 'rooted' into locks, it will stay an lead to untidy, dirty look...as the hair locks, make sure u separate it carefully wen u wash...once separate locks start 'locking' together, u have to 'tear' them apart wen u wash, so dat is why it is important to do the hair on regular schedule...do it on schedule so that u do not have to tear locks apart to separate them...

this is wat i am use to ...having tended many a locks before i got mine and since wid mine...u may find that some parts will lock faster than others...hope it works out for u...should be easy since he is young an can sit in ur lap as u deal wid his hair

So much complications nowadays,...back in the days we used to just go to de bathroom,wash our hair,...and simply leave it uncombed,and as the hair grows wi just used to give it de odd twist now an again.

u juss haffi follow di said instructions i gave her...for the skinny locks, u juss section the hair in small sections..u know how u section u hair fi plait it..well said way u do fi locks...how ever fat or skinny u want di plaits, is how u section di amount of hair...instead a divide di hair eena three , u divide it eena two and twist instead a plait...now u need to know dat di skinnier the locks, as dem grow out ova di years, dem gwine to get fragile towards di end an break awf...dat is if u a kip dem fi eva an no juss fi di hairstyle faze [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

I spent 2 hours night before last on the floor with my Reggae on the River DVD playing (he loves it and will sit still to watch the music)
I gave him a bowl of dry cheerios and went to work on his locks...
I got half his hair twisted, and by then I was so tired, I decided to do the rest the next day....

By the time I got home from work almost all the twists were un-twisted [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Id there no natural product that will help to keep them twisted with out bands or clips?

What about foil on the ends like the lady in JA did to the braids in my hair??

the few that I did with the double twist stayed the best...

(((Bandanna))) just let it go and grow and don't comb it - it will dread on it's own - as the ends start to dread - 'cause that will happen first - then you can palm roll them between your hands

so every morning just dampen and tossle his hair - no comb - dreads soon come - too much fixing and it won't dread - and any oil will cause it to slip

after washing - just towel dry and go

the main thing is no comb - but it will be a good six months - maybe buy him a little cap and do it over the winter

Bandanna...my little youth is almost two years old and he has a lot of hair too..I just two strand twist it and leave it alone and it started locking by itself.
