milk is good, but it contains a hold raft of dangers that needs to be managed.. as I mentioned the stomach is an amazing it is designed to destroy alot of nasties..developed as part of the evolutionary process...

the other thing is the human stomach stops producing renin after the age of about 5.. so the effective digestion of milk protien is at best debatable....

oh I drink about two or three liters of a week.. my children drink alot of milk.. semi skimmed....

whalla my grandpa had cows and i loved raw milk. we used to boil it first and we NEVER had it over night even with fridge.

boil it and strain it was the procedure mi granny used. she would serve it hot like tea or she cool it in the fridge and we drink. we would freeze it as kids us we loved the ice....i guess that was the only time we had it over night.

i would drink it now if i got some..wonder how it would taste.

and a bit off topic....but i wonder if ne one here know y the milk in Jamaica goes bad so fast. my last two jugs of milk went bad a day or two before the best by date....wats up with that. In Canada i still drink milk thats one or two days pass the date.

We used to go to the neighbor farm for milk. I still would if I drank the stuff. In the milk house was a huge stainless tank. Milk was pumped right from the cow to the tank and from the tank to the dairy tanker daily. It was great milk and hmm, thinking about it almost makes me want some but I no imbibe.

We brought our own 1 gallon jugs and after settling there would be thick cream on top for our coffee.

regarding the jamaican store bought milk i noticed the same thing vegas. I think we just started buying the long life milk at one point because it was just ridiculous.

I don't know if they give it too long a shelf life ? the vans transporting them not properly refrigerated? me nuh know...

Yeow I am not trying to justify anything just trying to find out the truth of the matter, I did some research on the net and is running my own test but the info is conflicting... personally I am against drinking milk at all
I got in a conversation with a bush doctor dread who was telling I about the miracles of raw Goat and raw Cows milk, could not accept the things he was telling I ....if truth he would change my mindset on animal milk.
I was brought up to believe exactly what wahalla is saying about milk, I never owned Goats or cows, though I spent several yrs in the country parts of Ja.

To put it in a nut shell The dread is saying boiling milk and pasteurization and homogenization weakens it and makes it spoils quicker and also makes it less nutritious almost poisonous....according to him milk cannot rotten or become rancid it separates in to cheese or yogurt(whey curd and cream)

if the cow is heathly milk is filled with astonishing nutrients and the milk is near pure... with little nasties.. but animals suffer from illness... a bruise on the udder will change it.. Heat which kill the bugs does denature teh nutrients especially the short chain peptides .... and so Franster is correct about the effect of heat.... What I am against is the storage transport of milk without the precautions...

this fear has led to the use of antibiotics in the treatment of cows...

Why I am enthusiastic of milk nutrients is the reason why I am cautious... it is filled with the nutrients that yeasts, moulds bacteria that float around the air and are harmless because of low concdentrations when they fall in milk they hit the jackpot and reproduce exponential rates in the near perfect enviroment that is milk... fat perfect pH high water content and amazing...

The traditional method that my father practic of only drinking raw milk in the pen has a scientific basis.... and makes sense...(this is another of the things that [censored] me off about those that tell us we should chhange... )

again because of the low concentration of nasties on thing was to wash a wound in freshly milked milk.. then pack with honey wrap with a bindspear..

but dont listen to sell outs like me...

As I sat down to eat my bowl of wheat chex this morning, I rolled my eyes and hoped for the best. I've been using a lot of soy milk lately, but I have skim cow's milk this week.

I talked to my dad about the raw milk. and he said he grew up on it. They had a cow. He says I had quite a bit of myself when I was a toddler, but I don't remember it. My immune system seems pretty good, and I don't suffer from any sort of lactose intolerance so maybe the raw milk helped.

Glad I ate my cereal before coming back to this thread. I could have done without contemplating which air born contaminants were breeding in my bowl. (That did remind me it's time to change the air filter.)
