I maintain alot of my friends' locks, and I usually twist the roots like that also. I tried to start on my likkle one's hair, but after awhile it looked in such disarray...I had to give up!

i just had 6 inches cut off my dreads
i was feeling "worn down" by them - hot - no style

you may want to do small individual braids then maintain them by palm rolling them between your hands

Well it's been a week and I have not brushed them out yet [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

This morning I looked at him and thought Lord give me the strength to get through this phase [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif[/img]

I just spent a little over an hour cleaning his scalp with witch hazel and palm rolling his locks with oil...

It looks much better now... wonder if I'll have to do this daily [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] sure will add a lot of time to the morning routine [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

Thanks for the encouragement - Seveen I think the twists will look better than braids once it locks up...

Plaintaingal..like what Seveen says, the best thing is to do individual braids and maintain them from there on.

you have along way to go...your hair texture is soft, much softer than mine and it took me one full year to see any locking. One think I know is that it teaches you patience. Just don't put a lot of things in it. The best way is to just braid them and leave them.

Thanks for the link, I will look at it on lunch time...

I have been doing what Vannie told me to do months ago... cleaning his scalp with witch hazel, and palm rolling the locks with olive oil...

I have put nothing else in it....

hush man, mi not trying to discourage you, but if you really want to do it just be patient. Later when mi go home mi will tek a picture of mine and poas it and mek you see it. Three years going on four. But I did you for more than just locking, its more of a spiritual journey for me.
