I colour my hair twice a year and I dont have any problem with losing my hair.

I wait 2 weeks after relaxing it before adding the colour. Plus I deep condition my hair every striking week! So, hair loss hasnt been a problem for me

Looks pretty, Nylah, plus if your baby picture is anything to go by, you're about the same skin shade as the model.

I'm too scared of synthetic dyes, so just use henna and indigo. And for some reason, black is the only hair color that suits me. Even stylists at most only ever suggest like a burgundy color shine for me. It must be nice to suit other colors and change up one's look from time to time.

Yes, kia, if you do the two step process, first henna then indigo it will cover grey hair. Like how I'm lazy though, I use a pre-mix in one step which reinforces natural dark color, darkens brownish looking ends, but does not cover grey.

Henna strengthens hair too, unlike chemical colors.

I know you're not talking about this much grey, but it's a good illustration. If you do one step with your own mix, you can get anything from brown to black depending on how much indigo you use. Some people say their greys become reddish and look like highlights. (That kind of red is not for me though.)

thanks Blackstar. I thought her skin coloring is close to mind as well so it should work for me. I made a mistake and thought my appt was today but actually is tomorrow [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

i was never quick to color my hair until I found the hairdresser 'i currently have. She is really big on scalp and hair condition before she suggests doing anything more aggressive. It took 2 years of me going to her on a regular basis before she would even color my hair. Then she spends alot of time making sure the condition of my hair is good.

So, I had a permanent color in the spring that is growing out now and my hair is still in good condition. But I want only a semi-permanent for now.

It's funny cause I tried black hair a long time ago and it looked awful on me. I was so shocked at how bad it is. But I have very yellow undertones to my skin so golds and reds look best on me.

blackstar, when i used a henna in the past i found that it literally ran out of my hair and onto my clothes.

do you have that problem or no? </div></div>Your mixture had too much water. It has to be a thick paste: not too dry or it will crumble and drop off your head; not too wet, or it runs down. Add the water little by little as you stir until you get the right consistency. I also add conditioner and Indian oils to mine and that helps to give a more gel-like consistency.

I did the henna myself so that may be it. For a black girl I am very hair-challenged [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I have given up and just get a pro to deal with my hair.

It is intimidating and took me at least three times to get the mix right. Fortunately, it won't harm your hair. To get all the henna out it helps to fill a basin and dip your head in it. Repeat as often as necessary.

I have to comb mine out, so use a large tooth comb.
