Poor QK. I went through a pasta free stage too, but couldn't stand it, so now I eat it periodically and in moderation. I have made curry pasta dishes and they're yummy. I make this oriental salad w/ ramen noodles, but can't bring myself to eat them otherwise. Ate way too many packages of ramen in college (what are they 10 cents a pack. A favorite for starving, broke students).
ok i cooked this recipe last night with little modification. it was so delicious its a keeper. ok in dark is what i did
Pasta with Pumpkin and Basil
1 Lb. Bow tie pasta ---> shell,ran out of bowtie
1 Lg. garlic clove, chopped ---> 2 cloves,we love it
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/4 canned pumpkin ---> 2 cup of the Jamaican pumpkin cooked
1 stick unsalted butter @ room temp.
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 freshly grated Parmesan cheese plus extra for serving
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves coarsely chopped---> 1/4 cup fresh from the garden
lots of fresh ground pepper
Combine garlic, red pepper, pumpkin, butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and cheese in pasta serving bowl. Set aside to warm to room temp. or place a heatproof bowl over pasta pot to warm the ingredients and melt the butter while heating the water. Once water boils, remove bowl and set aside.
Cook pasta in large pot, drain well and immediately add to sauce in bowl. Sprinkle w/basil and toss. Serve immediately w/extra cheese. Serves 4 - 6.
i put the pasta in the bowl first,then add the sauce. i love the shells cause it grabbed the sauce in every one. i also could get a better coverage pourin the sauce over top you all should try this.
