post your favorite tried an tested pies here....i will start,must say i got a few,they are very easy, caw mi nuh like nutting dat tek mi all day in de kitchen

speaking of pies every made glass bottle,wanda if dat still deh bout use to mek it fi mi kids,man

ok here goes...

Foreplay in a Pan

this part of the recipe can be doubled to accommodate the size of the pan

1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter/margarine
3 oz pecans (1/2 cup)

---------------------------------------------------

1 (8oz) pk of cream cheese (light can be used)
1 container/package of mixed berries (small)
1 cup icing sugar
1 tub light cool whip (1 litre)
4 packages of vanilla pudding (small)prepared
1 cup of shaved white chocolate

mix flour,butter and pecans and press into a 7x13 inch pan. bake at 350 for 25 mins.....cool

combine cream cheese and icing sugar and spread over pecan mixture.
spread 1/2 of the cool whip over the cream cheese layer.
spread vanilla pudding over cool whip.
make a layer oh mixed berries,as many or as few as you wish.
spread remaining cool whip on top and sprinkle with white chocolate shavings and decorate with berries.

Sex in a Pan

1 cup icing sugar
1 tub cool whip (1 litre)

4 packages of chocolate pudding (prepared)
chocolate chips or skor bar

sprinkle butterscotch chips over cream cheese and icing sugar mixture.
spread 1/2 of cool whip over the cream cheese layer.

spread remaining cool whip on top and sprinkle with chocolate chips or skor bar

Lemon Icebox Pie

1 graham cracker crust
1 can Eagle Brand sweet milk
1 cup fresh lemon juice
2 eggs (beaten)

mix liquid ingredients together and spoon into crust
place in refrigerator for at least 3 hrs
top w/fresh fruit (we like rasberries) and serve


I think that next time I make this, I'm going to line the crust w/melted chocolate before I spoon in the filling. I may also add some cornstarch or tofu to the filling b/c once it starts to warm up, it falls apart and becomes pudding. But it's soooooooooooooooo good.

G2, last night on Good Eats, a show on the Food Network, the guy made pocket pies and explained the history of them; how they were made by slaves from the scaps left in the master's kitchen. I like that show b/c he always tells the science of the food and how it cooks, and the history of it.

The pies brought back memories of the church fundraisers, when all the ladies in the Agape circle made fried apple and peach pies. I've eated a WHOLE LOTTA fried pies, but never made one. I think I'll try and make some next week. Have you ever made them?

DEEP DISH APPLE PIE

10 apples (Macintosh or Granny Smith),peeled and sliced,about 1/2 inch thick, about 10 cups
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
5 tablebspoon butter/margarine

Combine apples, brown sugar and white sugar, flour, cinnamon,in a large bowl, toss lightly to mix. Let stand while making pie crust.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spoon apple mixture into the pie plate and dot with butter. Cover with pie crust. Fold edges of crust under, flush with sides of dish. Pastry should be inside dish.make about 3 slits in the crust,sprinkle some cinnamon on top

bake for about an hour

****here is my fool proof crust***

Pie Crust

4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cups shortening
enough cold water to bind ( like to put in a teaspoon of vinegar)

using a pastry cutter, two knives or fingers, blend shortening and flour together until mixture is crumbly. Stir in cold water, adding just enough for pastry to hold together, so that pastry forms a smooth ball. can put in fridge or freeze for a few minutes.then roll on a floured board.

no i have never made fried pies, but in OK few years ago (few years well) i tried them, that were mi learn fi mek Elephant ears to

4 ounces semisweet chocolate
2 tablespoons margarine, melted
3 eggs
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup (light or dark)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups pecan halves
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell, homemade or frozen

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a double boiler melt chocolate and margarine. Let cool slightly. Beat eggs lightly in medium bowl. Add sugar, corn syrup, chocolate mixture, and vanilla; stir until well blended. Mix in pecans.
Set pie shell on heavy-duty baking sheet and pour in filling. Bake 50 to 55 minutes, until knife inserted midway between center and rim comes out clean.
Cool pie on wire rack to room temperature before cutting.
