I agree. Women tend to be softer, more nurturing and protective to their chidren. Fathers tend to roughhouse it a bit more..which is equally important. My father was the one who taught me how to be competitive and to take risks...to be adventurous. He really developed that side of us..some of the things he used to let us do are things my mother would've never let us do...just out of motherly fear and protection. That balance is important...you need the nurturing side, yes, but you need the 'roughhouse' side to expose you to life a bit more. That's why both mothers and fathers are important in raising children.

I am in the same boat, even though my son is still in his teens he is becoming a responsible young man. He is his own person and as best to my knowledge does not bend to peer pressure.
In the end whether or not the child is raised in a two parent or single parent home you can only do your best and hope for the best.

Funnily enough we were just discussing the same thing last night, not boys per se but children in general. I have seen some fine young men raised by their mothers alone, and I have seen some realy spwile hooligans raised by both. So bwouy all mi cyan seh it all depends on the home training and many times the support of the extended family. Either ways it takes a strong woman to raise children solo.

I am raising my son and a single mother here in America--I am hard where I need to be and I am soft when times call for it....I raise my son who is 13 years old soon to be 14teen in January to respect himself and others teaching him to have good morals and values by letting him know the big golden rule which is- "God First": Then I teach him to never hit a female now and in the future! Walk away--cool off-- come back and talk it over--violence is not the answer---

Having babies at a young age is in no way proving your manhood so protect yourself at all cost or you are going to pay out big bucks and be broke from pay check to pay check--- paying out childsupport for the rest of your life. Also in the future he must protect himself from the big deadly disease called Aids-- and to remember---Education First--in order to land that good paying job which will inturn have you to become the responsible and well rounded young man that he should be.

Letting your son participate with after school or weekend sports or other activities with a coach and other boys would be very helpful....or even joining the boyscouts....Just to name a few things....

Single moms should be tough and sometimes be soft at times too but can definitely raise sons on their own--I have also raised my 5 grandsons and three daughters-so with my son that is 9 altogether--

You give children their roots when they are young and then when they get older you give them their wings to fly---and growth will take place by making and learning from their own mistakes----Peace and Blessing Princess1
