Papa and Baby Doc's reign is decades old. The USA did not put them in power.

Right now Haiti's Government is laying under rubble and for all intents and purposes the USA is in charge. This is the risk of having corrupt and inept governments.
This is risk that Jamaica faces. One good rain or breeze blow could virtually wipe out what's left of our sovereignty.

agree. it was a strong earthquake, but the extent of the devastation had to do with the quality of buildings, density, the social more than the scientific factors, imo. similar situation with the last earthquake in china, where so many kids were killed while they were in shoddily built school buildings.

Well how many countries have moved ahead in the 20 years since baby Doc was exiled.

And Yes the US put the father in power and also the Ambassador put the Jean Claude in power.
because I know the people who were min the process of taking over, They were in Jamaica.
they were actually prepared in Jamaican.
But the Us insisted that baby Doc should continue.
Even with the number of US created and maintained governmental bodies.
it look like the majority of the existing ones were crushed under the rubble of the government buildings.

Coupled with a suggestion that I have made before on the Labourite YouTube Channel before I was thrown off.
We should take two years out of the lives of all Jamaicans, starting in the Grade Schools and train them for search and rescue operation. This will create a trained cadre of Citizens who can take charge of SR block to block in case of a catastrophic disaster.
So if we had a disaster in say Haiti and we have these ships we could easily gather up 1000 citizens who are familiar with the EMT, S&amp;R functions and logistics of these vessels and could provide the bulk lower order staffing for any operation.

The recent crash of the AA Flight331 shows us that the man/ooman on the scene is generally forced into action where he or she likes it or not. </div></div>

not to mention it seems like we are also relying on citizens for security ala shoe and underwear bomber.

Yep we are waiting for a bystander to chuck himself/herself on the situation. I say fine if we are going to <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'">crowd-source</span> search and rescue, security and emergency medical care at least give the masses some training and some tools!
