Congratulations, Loops! I only have a few questions (I'm not all in your biz like CoolB [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ; [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] ----- > at CoolB).

First, I love ALL the pictures of the Maine outdoors that you post. The ones currently posted of the fall foliage on the IP roads are VERY nice:

1) Have you had photography classes?
2) Other than gardening, what do you like to
do for relaxation/downtime?
3) Can you and do you like to cook? What are your
favorite dishes to prepare (if any)?
4) If you could live anywhere else in the world,
where would it be and why? (do ya feel like
you're in the Miss America pagent w/all these

4) Any specific reason or experience that made u decide not to have children? Why did you say that you would have had one if you could have guaranteed that it would be a boy?

Thanks (((BBR))), I'm glad you enjoy the pics.

Sitting on the porch or dock doing nothin...making a puzzle...riding the roads...sitting around the campfire or visiting with friends...all good things. Because I don't get to do it often...I like to putter when I'm at home. I despise winter, but love to watch the snow fall, with a wood fire going and a nice meal in the oven.

I use to cook a lot...mostly sweets. Cookies, bars and pies of all sorts. Meat pies, fruit pies...yum. That stuff goes right to my baxide now. Since there's just two of us, I just can't be doing that anymore.

I love a New England Boiled Dinner, especially the next day as leftovers. And I have a cold rice and cranberry salad that is darn good too. Don't get me going ....I do pretty good in the cooking department, unfortunately, I don't have the time for it.

I love it here in Maine, but the older i get, the more I can live without the Jan thru May-ish part. I have yet to travel enoough to be sure where that other place may be....but Jamaica is on my very short list. One thing for sure, it must be someplace with palm trees and heat. Nice to meet you loops...your garden pictures kept me busy this summer..still wish I had your space...

1.You and your husband got married ina yu yard. You've been there a long time (21 years - congrats!) How did you and hubby come upon the town and location of your home? It's obviously special.

2. What's your favourite location in Jamaica--I'm guessing that it isn't only Negril...

3. You love the country and camping. Have you ever been to Canada? If so what's your favourite area/town? You mentioned national health care--we do have national health care in Canada and I'm learning to it appreciate more and more...

4. If you could start your own business and work for yourself what would you do?

1) if you had a lot of money..do you think that you would still be a die-hard democrat? Interesting hypothetical there Coolbeans...I'd like to think yes. I've always been interested in leveling the playing field so to speak. Matters of equity and fairness are important to me.

2) Are u athletic by nature or a couch potato? I'm probably more of a jock than a couch potato. I've recently played on a co-ed floor hockey team with folks at work...had a blast and even scored a few goals. I'm most happy when i'm out of doors doing something...even in winter...i need a good dose of daylight everyday. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

3) Do u understand most of the patois that u read here on the board? (or does some of it leave u clueless as it does me -- a jamaican born and grown)? I think i can catch most of it...when i dont' understand a word, I usually run it past Grandma2...she helps me out. Ocasionally i go into a thread where the patois is so thick, that it's difficult to decipher....especially if I'm tired....I just back on out. Not a problem, except when the topic is one where I really want to understand what's being said.

Specific reasons huh....goodness coolbeans....self exploration is not my strong point.

I was the baby of the family, as was Scott....babysitting is not something i did a lot of as a teenager. Kids are nice...i just don't know a thing about them. I wanted to be comfortable financially before having kids....at first...then the longer we put it off...the more comfortable we became with not being tied down. Kids would have cramped my style. I was a tomboy in the extreme....still don't know the first thing about being a lady....I don't relate to dolls, ruffles or pink.

I love little boys though...would really have enjoyed raising a boy...and I am pretty sure Scott would have been into it to. Bottom line, parenthood is a job i didn't want to do alone. I haven't always been sure this marriage could have lasted children. With all these reservations...can you see why i chose not?

We're pretty happy with our childless life....i try not to think about who will take care of me in my old age though....

At the time we were house hunting, we were living in my parent's basement. We would drive over this way because there were a several lakes that held game fish...the hubby likes to fish. This area is about 45 minutes from where my parents lived at the time. The hubby's mom was raised around here but did not live here at the time. The house we live in is the first house we looked at. We're pretty impulsive shoppers like that. We loved the yahd immediately. It's been a great place for us...although, we've needed to do some major remodeling over the years. It's a nice little town on the coast, but we don't see the water from here....the lakes are nearby as well. I would love to photograph my ride to work someday...it really is special.

2. What's your favourite location in Jamaica--I'm guessing that it isn't only Negril...

So far, we've only seen Negril and the Treasure Beach area. I love Treasure Beach...could live there easily. I'm waiting for (((QK))) to settle down there, so I can become her new best friend. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

My Canada experience is limited to New Brunswick...and a little island off Maine called Campobello. Where i went to college, was very near a border with New Brunswick (Maritimes)...we would cross the border occasionally to break up the boredom. They talk funny up there. National Health Care is something I'd like to know more about...something's gotta give here, but I would hate to sacrifice quality. I'm not sure we all are getting the same quality health care here though....we certainly aren't getting our money's worth. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

4. If you could start your own business and work for yourself what would you do?

i work at a place that helps to put people in business every day...yet, self employment has never appealed to me. If I had the guts and the money though, i would love to own a sporting/vacation lodge on a remote lake. Some nice cabins to rent....fish jumping as the sun sets....loons calling in the distance....the smell of manly men in hunting clothes.... :love: THAT would be pure heaven. And when the cold really hit, a nice warm month or two in Jamaica. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

And, just one more thing. The lottery is now at well over 200 million. Do you have a ticket? If you were to win what would you do with that much money? I read somewhere it is over 15,000 a week or so....
