I posted the question because of another thread where the question of current living standards and its impact on moral decay was been tossed around. My relatives made the comment in reference to kids begging, etc

How nieve it is to really think that improve living standards is the reason for the moral decay.In that case the demography with highest standard of living then should demonstrate the greatest impact of moral deacy then.

I am always appriciate someone who never had a day of poverty in Jamaica making moral assumptions on people wanting something better... But htem I never insult other opnions... I am not smart enough having spent my formative years in derift of the most basic benifits of modern materialism to wish it on someone else.... Since I derifit of morality lacking materialism in my youth obviouly did not endour me with any superior spiritual asperations or morality...

If it did it would make my opnion spirutaly superior to any one who had material benifit...

If I am not mistaken it was the demand for more materialism led to a moral decline in Jamaica...And since you decline to debate a contrary position with a dismissive adage, I assume you require simply an endorsement of your opnion.. However my pedigree comes from a simple comment my father made to me.... He spent his youth cutting logwood on a prime minister property and was refused entry to a secondary school because of the times of social standings, of lack of money , he was a simple man like his simple son...

He told me "nothing mek yu hard.. Hard doan mek you betta, hard mek yu tough ...I dont want tough.".. Me I want electricity, having lived with out it... I want water in a pipe having lived without it... I want a gas cooking, having lived without it... I want a car to tale my children not walk 4 hours a day, I want my children to go to school without a leak... I expect these simple things ... If you beleive 80% electrification of Jamaica makes it a less moral... I have material expectations, and expect every one else to have them....

But if you want regaee bromides...

The first Female Mayor of Kingston (1958) and speaker of the house was Black and married to a professional BLACK man who was big in the private sector. Mavis Gilmore is a Black woman, Madame Rose Leon, even though ligh skin is a Black woman, Norman Manley is a Black Man, Michael manley is a Black man, All the heros of Jamaica are Black people. The only white PM your Island ever had was SEAGA.
