Tell me something Fledge, has Wittgenstein, Hegel or in fact any other member of this school of philosophy, ever, in your opinion, answered any important questions about life ?

We cannot consider life to be anything but a continuous and continuing set of interactions within and outside our individual selves (which themselves are constantly changing).

True, and it is food for thought regardless of your world view. I have printed some of his later Philisophical Investigations, and I want to read them through and join the discussion later on. Something intrigues me about the life of this man and I would like to make a suggestion for futher thought but first I want to be sure I am on the right track. I read the Investigations before I read the Tractatus. The greater focus on language is, I think, most useful.

I know this question wasn't directed at me, but I do have a response...I don't think it's necessary for philosophers to answer important questions. They serve a purpose by giving us food for thought. Finding answers on your own, answers that ring true for you and your particular situation, is more important (to me) than having anyone else provide answers to the "important questions."

I agree here. Philosophical, and generally, intellectual enquiry, train the mind, thereby sharpening the problem-solving and critical thinking skills - pretty much like a good teacher who doesn't provide you with all the answers but guides you on a path of discovery, and even 'conducts' you to the threshold of your own knowledge.

I do not disagree with either of you. What I was trying to get at was not whether answers were "provided" to Fledge by philosophers, but whether studying this particular school of philosophy, had led Fledgist to any answers to important questions about life.

Depends on what he means by the key terms.

Nature certainly exists, whether or not we perceive it. The question, I believe, is not that we perceive it, but how we conceive it.
