What's really happening is that Christians are praying to their idea of god, that their sons will be safe but kill Iraqis. Jews are praying to their idea of god, that the Christians will beat Iraq, and make Israel safer. And Islamists are praying to their idea of god, that they will defeat the U.S. and that their sons and daughters will be safe.

If your library has it, read C.E.S. Wood's Heavenly Discourse, satirical pieces published in The Masses in the teens of the 20th century. Woods is excellent on World War I.
