Question 1 For the next 48 hours, you can be anyone you want to be, go anywhere you want to go and do anything you want to do. Money is no object. The laws of time, time zones and period in history are suspending. Whatever you do will have a lasting impact on you and the world?

I gave this some thought. At first I wanted to say a doctor, because I can go about giving care to the needy. However, two days would not be enough to make a significant change. So I would like to be the President of the United States. I would implement and ensure that certain laws were passed for the betterment of the people. There are a lot of injustices that have and still being carried out against "our people". That will cease and desist. I would vehemently persuade the other world leaders to make the changes that should be made in their homelands to also ensure that the people of this world are treated humanely and not just the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Prayer would not be taken out of the schools!!! And of course the debt that Jamaica owes to the US would be dismissed. I may just give the people not the government each a new start by giving them, $10,000 per adult and tell me be wise in your spending. Finally, Africa would be given back to the Africans.

What would you want to be? What would you do? What would you acquire? Where would you go? Who would you take with you?

During the last 35 years, there has been a significant change in the role of and opportunities for women in our society. What challenges does this present for how men and women relate to each other in romantic and marital relationships?

I can only speak for the personal challenges I see with my friends and myself. We must be careful in whom we choose for a mate. There are men out there who know what time it is and who is mature enough to handle the fact that women will sometimes earn more money than he does. Black men are at such a disadvantage. There are so many more obstacles for them to get over before they have “arrived”. As much as I hate to admit this but it seems that the only way out for our men are through sports and music. Rap music at that!!!! So in choosing our mates we should first establish a level of honesty between each other. Boyfriend are you able to handle the fact that I may make more money that you? Of the challenges that present themselves this may vary depending on the level of intelligence and maturity in who she chose for a mate. The facts are the facts, a black man in American has two strikes against him, being black and being male. It’s horrific the things they have to go through to get what they can get. It takes a woman who understands this fact to be able to deal with a man who makes less. It also takes a mature man to be able to handle this fact. Let her pay for the dinner, go dutch is need be. I am sure she would not have a problem. But please men should not enter into a relationship with the lie that he makes all this money when in actuality he does not. This can be quite embarrassing when the truth gets out.


Are men and women on the same page with respect to these changes? Yes they are on the same page. But the question is are the men willing to be open and honest with the women to talk about how they really feel.
What advice would you give to a couple to help them navigate this shift in roles and responsibilities and build a solid relationship?

First there has to be respect between them, I would then say communication is the key, and of course love. If they have that level of respect to be able to come to each other at some point in time if the male feels inadequate about the situation, and communicate openly and honestly that how it makes him feel, then they are definitely on the way to mending their differences. On the other hand, if the woman sees that he is having a difficult time handling the stress of it all because he was not honest with his feelings in the beginning, then she must be sensititive to his needs and feelings and to ensure no matter what happens she should always make her man feel like a man and to be the man he should be in the relationship. She should never belittle him. He should always be King in her house. Now if he decides to act stupid about the issues then we have a real problem. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

I also don't think if she sent photos of herself that it should be posted on the net because she is under aged. Just for her safety by the way, because I believe she may have sent the real thing. Well first of all I'm thrilled that we have a good variety of ages in the pageant. It makes it more fun.Welcome to the site Iandi.

I do agree with the advice that Blu has given you Iandi. Since you are underage, I don't think it is a good idea to post a real picture on a public site. Instead, search the net, find some bathing suit and evenign gown pictures and poses you like and add that to this thread using the IMG button as described earlier.

Question 1

What would you want to be? With respect to all of the above.. I would want to be a the founder of an organization that would be known as " Den Mommas House "... as I would be the den mother. This home would be dedicated to the rebuilding process of the fostercare system/adoption system. It would be a worldwide organization.

What would you do? I would like to create an organization & home for parentless children ( As I do not believe in the term " unwanted children " ) This home would be centered to start during the after effects of slavery & war. Considering those time periods where a bulk of parentless children and/or children with mix heritages became more visible. This home would be filled with loving men & woman that would lay the foundation for our youth of tomorrow.. A place where young ladies from infancy on up would be introduced to respect for one's self, others & her body. A place where a young impressionable girls would be taught to value their heritage (what ever it may be..) and be given the seeds of wisdom to survive in today's society. With the foundation being Confidence, Love, Acceptance, & Spirit to carry them into adult hood. For my young men.. I would pray that I have STRONG men to be positive role models for each male spirit under my roof. Men who would teach our young men that men do cry, & can still be strong... men can verbalize their wants, desires, & needs and still be strong men.. and positive men as well. But most of all I would want to have Men who would teach our boys of tomorrow how to get back up on there feet it they should fall. Not let THE MAN or ANY MAN hold him down! A place where both young boys & girls can feel safe, valued, loved, secure, & needed in a family unit that is so desperately needed in todays society and the yesterdays of the past.

What would you acquire? If given the proper just due of the past.. I would aguire the reperations due to my people who suffered at the barbaric hands of slavery. I would turn this filty negative into a positive by creating a new tomorrow with the cash value for every minute edured by my fore fathers at the hands of slavery. Gimmie my fourty Achers & a mule please... and you just watch me grow..

Where would you go? As far back in time as needed.

Who would you take with you? Martin Luther King & God.

With all due respect, there has been a significant change in last 35 years with respect to women being the sole providers & both momma/daddy in the house hold. And due to this changing of the guard in todays microwave society where NO ONE wants to stick it out through the rough times... woman had to so often pick up the pieces and carry on. I'm supposed to be the MAN of DE house drama... it leaves no room for growth as a unit or as one in a Marriage/relationship. Respect & Communication is key in all aspects of life & relationships. Walk in the door with these 2 spices of life-- walk out the door filled with a life time of happiness and mutual adornment.

Are men and women on the same page with respect to these changes? Nope. As a strong independant black woman I so often am challeged as to why I have this that & the other.. and no " MAN " to share it with.. well let the truth be told when I had a " so called ' MAN' " to share it with.. he quite frankly didn't know what to do with it. My dreams goals & desires would often times be frivolous...to him... but my goals were to better my situation.. Then when an opportunity came about for me to work minimal hours & build a support system for him & family... it was he who suddenly became jealous or spiteful because I had worked over 10 years to be in a position to work 2x a week.. " Why aren't you at work.. blah,, blah... " Key word here.. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. if I have more than you... strive to do better don't beat down a sistah for trying? Because in reality.. if you are my man.. what mines is yours anyway.. so let's carry each other to the mountain top together.. not hate one another for who makes it to the mountain top first. You feel me?

In a relationship.. let the man be the man.. know your place in the home..and let's do this 50/50-- BUT.. let the man be man ENOUGH to accept the blessings of the woman... as a blessing to the relationship as a whole. And let the woman be woman enough to build her man up.. in this hard knocks world we live in.. and not feed into the materialist images that may ultimately push our men... GOOD, Strong men... out of the door.
