(((To ablackskyfoxx and Blu))) Preach sistah preach!!
Very nice gown Iandi (I&I) and thank you for your bathing suit entries. Thank you for helping our sister and youngest contestant from Geneva out with the uploading ablackskyfoxx. That is the true Jamaicans.com spirit.
While Mulligan and CEW are busy scoring the entries they have received so far in each category, if any of the other judges or any of our boardites have questions, you now have an opportunity to interview our lovely and I must also say most articulate contestants.
Oh Iandi is about to begin her answers. I can hardly wait to hear what she has to say.
Question 1 For the next 48 hours, you can be anyone you want to be, go anywhere you want to go and do anything you want to do. Money is no object. The laws of time, time zones and period in history are suspending. Whatever you do will have a lasting impact on you and the world?
I thought so much about a good thing that I wanted to say: But this was allways coming back to my heart: The war in Irak, Or should I say the "after war" like they say.
I would like to be an adult so I could go to Irak, and work with "La croix rouge" Or any association to help these people suffering everyday, loosing members of theire families etc... I would like mother Theresa to come ith me.
My fiance's bestfriend is in the US army, but my close friend's mum just died in Irak...
When I see the US army and the soldiers there, I feel worse, because I see "our people", and they are almost majority of the soldiers! so then I think about all the efforts that these black leaders made, and I realise that, just like my boyfriend's friend, some of them are so poor that they have to go to school in the army, So I guess it is the all american system that we have to change.
sadam hussein was such an horrible man, a horible dictator, But for me Bush is a dictator too.
Peace, that's my key word.
what would you acquire? I would acquire a lot of maturity, and I would learn some different cultures, how to love and help a stranger, giving you heart to a country, to rebuilt it without violence, share, give my knowledge, and get some from them.
what would you want to be? just be me.
I will answer to the second question tomorrow, I took one hour and a half to write this one, because I write with my dictionnary in my hand, I think I'm gonna ask my fiance to translate the second one 4 me, but right now is really late, tomorrow I got school.
for my pictures , my swiss I-mac seems to have a little problem, I thank ablackskyfoxx for her support, she should get more points, because of her generosity and sens of honor.
OVATION FOR HER THEN!!!
Thank you Iandi. Please feel free to write in French. There are a number of boardites who can help with the translation and I (and others) would welcome the opportunity to practice reading French so that we can improve. God bless.
the spirit of fun.
During the last 35 years, there has been a significant change in the role of and opportunities for women in our society. What challenges does this present for how men and women relate to each other in romantic and marital relationships? Are men and women on the same page with respect to these changes? What advice would you give to a couple to help them navigate this shift in roles and responsibilities and build a solid relationship?
[/QB]
Are men an women in the same respect to these change?
OK....thanks to all the contestants for the pictures. They were all very wonderful and surely makes our lives as judges a tad more difficult. Please stand by as we get ready to announce the winners in both categories - evening wear and bathing suits.

Rough Translation
I think that men should stop wanting to run everything: to have the best jobs, the best salaries, instead of fighting against the progess of women, they should help women fight to succed in the world of men. The fact is that a woman who has children can have problems at her workplace (it can be impossible to obtain a position with higher responsibility, to get promoted to a higher level, to benefit from a higher salary) because she will have to sacrifice her professional life for her family life, she might have to work part time. The solution is that men should make some sacrifieces, like working 75% (of the time) for example. I am not asking that we reverse the balance. Just for equality. I think that men should simply show more understanding because over and above love, there is respect.

I believe that there is progess and regression: Black men, who are "our men", our fathers, our husbands, have not advanced at the same rate as society, there is progess at work, even in the house, but (in some areas) there aren't changes: housework, the care of children: "My colleague is an extraordinary woman, but you are MY woman, YOU ARE ONLY A WOMAN!" It's like the external world disappears when one goes home. I think that culture plays a role in the very important liberation of women and this depends on education.
Okay Iandi. I hope I have caught the gist of your message. This is a VERY rough translation from a transplanted yardie living in Canada, I would be interested in getting some feedback about how I have done from someone, like your fiance, who is 100% fluent in both French and English.
OK...For the benefit of the judges, will the contestants please answer as briefly as possible, the following questions:
1. If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?
2. Who would you say has had the most impact on your life to this point, and how?
3. If you won 10 million dollars, how would you use it to change your life and the lives of those around you?
As soon as we have these answers, we will be ready to announce the winner of this year's Ms. Jamaica.com contest
Edited to add: Very excellent and some very passionate responses to Tropicana's two questions. Good stuff!

1. If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?
---Le gouvernement américain, parce qu'en plus d'imposer son mode de vie, son quota de pollution, il appauvrit sa population en s'enrichissant. Et ne s'inquiète pas de tuer des milliers de gens pour leur bébéfice (Pétrole).
2. Who would you say has had the most impact on your life to this point, and how?
---My sister Tamaé, because she's the one who organised the demonsrations, and my fiance who's American, and changed his mind about that war.
3. If you won 10 million dollars, how would you use it to change your life and the lives of those around you?
--I would give some money to my family in Flatbush, then to poor people in Jamaica, Martinique, and Africa.
