di current mr. ilp is training for the same triat that I am training for (he is swimming my leg actually). So he did the charity ride with me on Saturday. We both run, so we run together most Sundays. This Sunday was no different.
di current mr. ilp will remain current until such time as wi deem im nuh need fi be current anymore.

ohhhh...OW...the dreaded shin splints. I suffer from them...used to suffer REALLY bad.

Heres what helped me...GOOD SHOES...lots of cusion. and stretch...stretch LOTS. Ice your shins after every run after you have stretched. And if they get real bad...try ART (Active Release Therapy). There is a websight that describes the therapy and lists practioners trained in it. For my first year or two as a runner...I couldnt live without my ART....now I never need it.

Funny that we are back to shoes again.

Went in for a training meeting today. And the feet people were there. It was interesting running on the machine and seeing where exactly your feet needed support. I really learned alot. I found out that my shoes were too small. They fit, but I need more room in my toe box. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif[/img] The podiatrist gave me this link to post for everyone.

Geneva...you really, really need to check your shoes if you are having issues speed walking.

Finding the right shoes

3.2's are great gauges (sp) for progress. Sign up for one, that way you are "forced" to train.

My last running session was Tuesday. Did 3 miles in 30 mins, but that was a mixture of jogging and walking. Felt so good that I decided to jog home - not good. My back decided to make its displeasure known and my hips have joined in too. Yesterday I went for a 40 min walk and did a long stretch afterwards. That helped.

Mind you, I bought and started wearing a pair of MBT's Monday lunchtime. They supposed to work your body more than other shoes, so maybe that's why my body is aching a little more than usual [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] Anyway, after my fish frying session, I'm going out for a 30 minute jog/walk and I'm going cycling tomorrow with a neighbour. Now THAT will be interesting as I'm still not comfortable on my bike [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]
