Re: Jamaica/Japan Connections
When I order sushi I say "Ika Nai Tamago Nai Kudasai". I can't stand Ika and Tamago makes me lose my cookies instantly. Yet, the Japanese consider it to be a delicacy and can't get enough of it. Sounds like you are on to something there. I am learning Japanese and encouraging my son to learn it too. There are affordable courses in Toronto and the JET programme is a perfect opportunity for young people to really sharpen their skills in Japanese. Did you participate in it Kingston? When I was in Tokyo last week, at the Kabukiza, I met a young African American woman who is in the JET programme. Her mother had come over to visit. We all sat together and had a pleasant exchange. I ran into about 6 - 8 Black women but no Black men other than the one at the airport (with his blonde girlfriend bound for Toronto. I was told that the brothers hang out at TGI Fridays in the Shinigawa area....but I digress
