The State of Georgia forbids their participation in “the making of pornographic films or other performances”.

Three of my own and varying numbers of foster children from time to time.

Obscene materials are. Now for the purposes for which this law was written, what would be the difference between the two?

...though the language is so subjective, it starts with Material is obscene if:

(1) To the average person, applying contemporary community standards, taken as a whole

...someone has to determine what "the average person" and "contemporary community standards" are, and simply by using the word "community" they are saying such standards will vary from place to place.

I think I must agree that defining pornography or obscenity in any objective way is pretty near impossible.

You need to read up on the current debate among legal theorists then. Some scholars -- Catherine McKinnon, for example -- draw a distinction between 'obscenity' and 'pornography'; a very important distinction, I might add (though, so far, the Supreme Court of the United States has seen fit to strike down ordinances proposed on the basis of that distinction). In any case, being completely dishonest, it hadn't occurred to you that 'obscene materials' (the Bible for example) might be different from 'pornography' (the advertising of sexual services, for example).

Even though I should have known better, I answered what appeared to be an innocent enough question regarding my children. Somehow, I thought you would not stoop to including them in the personal attacks that you continually direct at me.
