Re: Trip Report (IT'S FINISHED!)--Meeting the parents (ALL PICS INCLUDED!!)
Monday, the day before we leave...
Big Red and I are walking through his fathers home in Mandeville talking and laughing. Big Red stops every once in awhile to dash into a room of the house and show me something from his childhood. He doesn't have many things left in his fathers home, however, he has his numerous tennis trophies on display in the living room.

We are laughing and cracking jokes, but there is an underlying sadness to our day together. We know that tomorrow we leave Jamaica and we do not want to go. Sure Jamaica is magical and romantic and all the things you hear about time and time again from everyone of us board members. But this trip was something different for Big Red and I. It was the most time we spent with one another without school, work, or other life things getting in the way. It was sort of a test for us, and although it was never really spoken about until afterwards, we both had the intention of talking about our future together during this trip.
Big Red and I spent the entire day walking around Mandeville. He and I walked the the same roads he used to walk everyday on his way home from school.
I just loved this plant, I had to take it's picture.
He pointed out old friends houses and told me little stories about each one. We climbed a huge hill that overlooked his neighborhood and sat there talking. This trip was about so much to each of us... we were both so happy with the way things had gone between us. And now in retrospect, how could I have thought it would be any other way? I love this man and I knew it long before this trip to Jamaica together.
At the end of the day we are exhausted from all the walking and the amount of emotion spent in reminiscing about our past. We are exhausted and sitting together on the verandah of Root's home. Root's isn't home and somehow from that exhaustion came the most amazing, passionate, steamy, romantic sex...
Roots returns home after a very long day at work and prepares a special dinner for me. Steamed fish with bammy and vegetables. It looks delicious and Big Red and I eat until we think we will explode.
In my head I was thinking that is going to be my last dinner in Jamaica for awhile and I am saddened by that thought. I make up my mind to stop thinking like that and I begin pacing the house instead.
There was something about the tile in Root's home. The entire house has this sturdy, solid, glossy, white tile throughout and I loved to walk on it. It was just the way my feet sounded as I went down the hall, it was a slap, slap, slap, slap sound from the pads of my feet hitting the tile. I loved it. I caught myself pacing one hallway in the house about 6 times before I made myself stop. I am always always told that I am a free spirit and I march to the beat of my own drum... doing things like pacing a hallway to hear the sound of my feet on the tile doesn't help...
In some way it was comforting to me to walk that hallway.
It gets late, Big Red and I have exhausted every drop put of our last day in Jamaica, and we go to (our seperate) beds for the night.
