Did anyone mention the fact that pants were not invented or worn until the 7 or 8 century BC .Today they are still not popular in the east . When the injunction was impose pants/trousers was not what was being address in particular , But specific styles of tunic, skirts ,robes, wraps and probable kilts .

Still yet the injunction could really mean that you , if you are a woman should not borrow that which belongs to a man in terms of garments . So maybe it is o.k if you originally purchased and owned that skirt or dress if you are a man ,just do not borrow or lend it to a woman .

perhaps it's not about wearing clothes, but about women acting like men and men acting like women....that's a problem these days too.

This was not a clothes issue. The people were highly impressed with Eliab because of his outward appearance and obviously his height. The Lord was not looking for a man that had the "look" of a leader, but one who had the "heart" of a leader. Which was King David.
If God were not concerned with how we dress, there would have been no need for Deut. 22:5 and other passages to be written. Nor would He have clothed Adam and Eve, no? We would all still be naked. Imagine that!

It's about putting a difference, I think. Now a days, you cannot tell men from women largely because of the way women dress. I once had a roommate that wore jeans, t'shirt and a backwards baseball cap. I, wear only dresses/skirts. Some male painters came to the house and after I got to know them, they confessed that they thought we were a "couple". 2 women, 3 children and no men. Cho! We both had boyfriends, but I moved quick, fast and in a hurry! What did the neighbors think when they saw us all playing in the yard? OMG!

We are to abstain from the appearance of evil. There is supposed to be a direct difference in the dress codes of men and women. Why else would emphasis be put on who is to wear what? Of course, the attire was different back in those days. The men wore breeches which some interpret as britches and now pants/trousers. Not the attire of women. It was not until the 1920's that women began to wear pants/slacks and largely out of rebellion. The feminist movement came into existence. The right to work, vote, take office, etc. To be equal with men. To dress like men. The dress code of men has remained the same. Excepting the delusional ones who seem to believe they are women in men's bodies. And when a man buys and wears a dress, double standards appear. He should be ashamed of himself, yadda yadda.

If you look at the outrageous dress code of women, you will understand why God ordained a dress code. Pretty soon, they won't be wearing a thing and it will be acceptable to most.With all the sleazy clothing these days, God knows we need dress codes! Whatever happened to modesty?

How does Deut. applies to you. I told you that you are no longer under the laws(ceremonial Laws) THIS WAS FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISREAL. Yes the christian today have a dress code and that is Wearing christ. A woman can wear Pants to church anytime. Also in samuel God was speaking in general terms. Not only to the situation at hand.

Do you have the chapter and verse where this ended? The 10 Commandments were also given to the children of Israel. Do we no longer have to keep them too? [/qb]

Well, the scriptures TOLD me, that just because I am no longer under the law but under grace, that does not give me freedom to go back and break the law.
Galatians 6:14-15
For sin shall not have dominion over you. for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? SHALL WE SIN, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW, BUT UNDER GRACE? GOD FORBID.

YOU may have given women permission to wear pants to church, but God certainly did not. I have seen no proof of this from you. No more can a man wear a dress to church, or pray tell, do you wear dresses made for and bought for TonySlim? Since we have a dress code of "wearing Christ", let's forget the clothes. Why wear them at all?
