Exodus 28:41-42;
41 After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.
42 "Make linen undergarments as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh.

Exodus 39
28 and the turban of fine linen, the linen headbands and the undergarments of finely twisted linen.

Leviticus 6
10 The priest shall then put on his linen clothes, with linen undergarments next to his body, and shall remove the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar.

Leviticus 16
4 He is to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body; he is to tie the linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are sacred garments; so he must bathe himself with water before he puts them on.

You appear to be resting your faith on a version of the Bible that is at odds with other versions. Whose is correct? And in any event, when one is dealing with a translation of texts, as any Bible in English must be, then one is always at risk of having text that is at the whim of the translator and is one step removed from the integrity of the original author. And it is folly to me to hold any one translation as the literal word...one could base one's way of life on a middleman's words rather than the original "inspired" word.

Apparently, you used a version other than the KJV. Everwhere you typed "undergarments", the word is actually "breeches" in the KJV. Which as I forestated, is translated to britches and now pants/trousers. Anyway, we're done.

I have no idea why I've been in this thread this long. It is really time to take up my bed and go back to work.

Sometimes extreme cold temperature is the reason. Other than that, pants look more modest than most of those dresses and skirts they have now-a-days.
