AT LAST!!!! I just talked to Carolyn Allen at Waterloo Guest House in Black River. The hotel roof has been 1/2 blown off and most of the sea walls have come down. The Courthouse is badly damaged and there is a lot of other damage. The roads are open but tough to navigate. They will get more info tomorrow when they begin to clean up. She hasn't heard of any death or injury. The ship that's been beached for 5 years in front of Waterloo didn't move but the waves were over the top of it. At least 20 feet high. C@W are working but only for cells - no power. FINALLY, time to sleep - God be with you all and I'll talk with you tomorrow.

I must tell you how thankful I am and I know everyone else using your site.
You are a "good samaritan" and will be blessed for providing this service
unselfishly.

I heard from my sister again just within the hour and was about to put
together an email for you.
She says that St. Elizabeth as a whole was severely damaged. The extent of
the damage is not known but she says because the Eye of the storm passed
just south of them they really got pounded. They began getting the wind
since 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and the rain only stopped at 4:00 p.m.
this afternoon.
She hasn't heard of flooding in Santa Cruz.The town doesn't usually get the
floods however in the Southfield and Treasure Beach they are bad and were
just affected by Charley as well.
Black River 40% of homes damaged. The sea came up to street level and into
businesses. For those who know Black River they can picture the areas that
would have been included in this description. Very sad.
Many homes and buildings without entire roofs including her very close
friend (Binns) in Goshen area. There is ankle deep water in her house.

My sister says that she cannot get through on her cell phone to anyone so
it's difficult to hear about other areas.

STETHS (high school in Santa) lost some of its roof.
Burnt Ground and areas next to it very bad as well.
She says she doesn't know how they are going to clear all the trees as it
seems every one was fallen. Every leave ripped from those still standing.
Devastation indeed.

Heard from Anke! Parottee Road,Black River.

House and Cottages ok, yard totally destroyed.
No power,no phone...

Briefly heard from mother-in-law in Santa Cruz, before line cut out. All we heard was "my house is gone, everything is gone." Please pray for them. Just her and her mother---her mother had a shack a few feet away from daughter's house. I fear the worst for both houses. Don't know where they are---will try to call back today.

Spoke to family in Black River again this AM and they say that the damage is everywhere. They have started cleanup at the Hotel (Waterloo Guest House)- all the motel units are fine. Finding a carpenter to repair the roof on the hotel and the back portion of her daughters home is a problem - there's not enough carpenters to go around. The 150 year old breadfruit that I was sure would crash down on the house stood like a tower of strength through it all. Houses on the coast are filled with sand and dirt from the waves along with the water damage. Anxiety and exhaustion and depression are their worst enemy right now but that will pass. They are counting their blessings. Andrea mentioned that the noise for 20 straight hours was so nerve wracking - the kids were terrified. I just thank God that all are in good health and no injuries. Keep the faith and Pray, Pray, Pray!!!

Anyone else hearing from Black River surrounding area. I only know about High St. and the coast area. What about inland and the surrounding towns.

Sorry as I have been postin about Black River on the front page what I been heard. TALKED TO Family at Fort Charles, Pond Side, Seaside and most all House roof gone and houses flooded out. The new street is washed away as most streets are. Of course the Bridge still down to Black River as they were workin on it to start with so not passible. No tree left standin in the area and leaves and animals gone washed down the gullys. At least 11 Homes completly gone that could be walked to in the area of cross roads down to Fort Charles. All Lindo Family is safe sept for Those at Pond Side whom are flooded in.
Those Homes that were between hillsides on both sides left standing while others atop the hill blown down and washed away. Had heard word of 11 in the area dead or seriously hurt but dont have names yet as Dad was hesitant to give names out yet. Dunno why. Maybe they still in shock Yano the Old Folks dem. Roads in the area immpassable with anything other then donkey or bike. Only cells working who have em and using car batteries to recharge em who have the correct wires to do such. Said the emergancy service relayed info on the radio it will be months befor utilities and service return then the radio went out.Will call Him back tomorrow again befor IVAN come My way here in Florida.

I will check the treasure beach site also, but if anyone has word on my play brother's mother, he is very concerned as he lives in Negril with no way to reach her as of yet.

If anyone has word of Ms. Joycelyn Harris of Aberdeen area in Manchester, right outside Siloah, her son Hopeton Bryant aka Ed aka Flathead in Negril is looking for word of her. Please post any news here. Thank you!!!
