Trust me, I'm looking to recruit company too! That's one of the reasons why I posted on this board!
Nice Time, here's some infomation you may find useful:
Colon Hydrotherapy
What is Colon Hydrotherapy ? (also known as Colonic Irrigation)
Colon Hydrotherapy, using the gravitational method, is an internal bath that helps cleanse the Colon of Poisons, Gas, and Accumulated Fecal Matter. Unlike an ENEMA, it does not involve the retention of water. There is NO discomfort, NO internal pressure, just a steady gentle flow in and out of the Colon. At the same time, an Abdominal Massage is given to stimulate the Colon to recover its natural Shape, Tone, and Peristaltic Wave Action. No other system can equal this process.
Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy:
1. It has a cleansing, antiseptic, and solvent action on the intestines, whereby material, impacted fecal matter, excess mucous, and even pus and infected tissues are removed from the colon.
2. It also increases the water level and diuretic action. The water is absorbed, and this increases the volume of the blood. Circulation is thereby increased, resulting in greater bathing of the individual cells, this dilutes toxins and flushes them out: relieves uremia (symptoms- nausea, vomiting, dizziness, convulsion, dimness of vision and coma) and toxemia (spread of bacterial toxin by the bloodstream, marked by fever, diarrhea, vomiting, quickened or depressed pulse and respiration, prostration), increases the elimination through both kidneys and skin as well as bowels. This generally assists the cardiovascular and circulatory systems to be more efficient.
3. Many people are overweight. Are you? Some patients have eliminated as much as 10 to 25 pounds just from getting their lower gastro- intestinal tract cleaned out.
4. Colonic Irrigation is very effective in removing parasites from the colon.
I'm not a professional, but here goes...
In addition to Queen's link, you may want to look at this link. The home page can be found here. The forums may be of some interest to you also.
When I first heard of this, I also did a lot of investigation but I couldn't find any professional (vis scientific or medical) opinion on the subject. If I hadn't known of people who were at their wit's end regarding certain medical conditions, who opted for this procedure, I would have lost ALL credibility in the procedure - particularly since the term 'alternative medicine' seems somewhat slanted to a specific perspective...
Prior to Najahlei's post, I was investigating the hydrotherapy procedure - still am - but wanted to see what else was available. According to the link that I posted above, you most likely will not find this type of information in US journals, but will see it in some European journals.
Though I'm still researching, I feel more secure about the procedure. (Actually, one reason for this is that I know of a neurosurgeon who has this done at least once a year - and he's into regular, scientific medicine, so...).
why not go to a colon therapist and get one done. There is a good one in Brooklyn called Geb Hetep on Flatbush Avenue near PC Richard in downtown b'klyn
That is where my friends go to do theirs! My thing is, they are a lot skinnier that I am and their belly is not as big as mine. Which leads me to think that I have a lot more in there to get rid of... I can only imagine if I thought I was finished-- only to become unpleasantly surprised while in a dollar van on Flatbush ...have you had this done there? How did you find the experience? How long does it take? And for how long do they suggest you fast b4 the process?
najahlei I've had colonic hydrotherapy once and my stomach cramped so much that I couldn't take it. However, I have several friends who do it a couple times a year and they swear by it.
I personally have had more success doing the Master Cleanser or Lemonade fast. The book is by Stanley Burroughs (can't remember whether or not he's a doctor), but several of my friends and I have done it together 2x's a year for the past few years and we all agree that it leaves you feeling great (although it's kinda rough when you first start it).
The book is way more detailed but here are the basics:
1. Combine 2 tbsp. of fresh lemon or lime juice, 1 or 2 tbsp. of organic maple syrup and some cayenne pepper (as your taste allows), per 1 c. of pure water.
2. Drink a minimum of six cups of this mixture a day for a minimum of 10 days. Eat no solid foods. You may drink herbal teas and water as well.
3. Keep your bowels moving with laxative teas in the morning and evening to help your body eliminate the toxins accumulating in your colon as the lemonade cleans your entire system. Taking enemas on the last few days is also highly recommended for clearing out your colon. We drink sea salt mixed with hot water for the laxative effect. In addition, the book will tell you to use a laxative tea - we got the "smooth moves" brand, but for me the sea salt is enough!!
4. Break your fast by drinking orange juice for two days to prepare your stomach to assimilate other foods. On the third day, drink orange juice in the morning, raw fruit for lunch, and fruits and salad for dinner. Resume normal, healthy eating on the next day.
Tips:
Avoid heavy exercise during this fast. Light yoga, walking and gardening are excellent ways to stimulate your metabolism without straining your body.
Expect the greatest amount of hunger around the third day (this varies slightly according to your metabolism).
After doing the fast, I have the same feeling of purity and "lightness" as with the colonics (and it doesn't hurt my stomach as much - that thing hurt my stomach man).
NICETIME is my sister's board name that I accidentally used bcuz she didn't log out.
I just really want to sort of investigate and see if there are any serious side effects. And,yes, the words "alternative therapy" strongly concern me as anyone can understand.I will read up some more on this process. Thanks again.
That sounds like a good washout but, it must taste bad! If I can't swallow it without tasting it, I can't do it. I will puke it up! Especially the salt water!!!
But thanks though !
You all are a wealth of information! Being the broke person that I am, I am currently using one that I already had at home by natures's secret called "ultimate cleanse"... if I don't feel beter after using this, I will see what more I need...so keep the info comming! Hopefully some of you will join me on this cleansing journey!
I visited some of the websites you all posted and not only am I truly grossed out, but I am scared of what's in my body. Now, I feel I have to have a colonic.
Does anyone know about how much the hydrotherapy costs?
What's the normal fasting period for the other options? I don't think I could fast for more than three days.
There seem to be so many options. I need definate answers on which one seems to work the best.

you done know. when i saw that man poop on a string, i thought, gosh, i hope i don't have that in me. but then, if it is in me, do i want it to stay in me?!?
You guys are way too funny .
NapiHead327: I think the price for the hydrotherapy treatment varies. I contacted this lady who does this, and the following is her fee schedule: Initial visit = $80
Series of three sessions (usu. recommended but not always necessary) = $210
Single pay per session = $80
Additives/Implant Treatments = $25
Home Kit for Implants = $15
I'm not sure what the last two entails, however. I know that you can probably get this done cheaper in NYC than you could get it done here upstate.
I think the colonic is far more effective than a wash-out, unless you're having a wash-out every week or every other week (but this observation is only based on my limited research thus far). Some of the other programs (like Shalom's/Blessed Herb) may require you to fast for up to five days; other's (like Nunya's or Colonix) apparently don't require a fasting period - you just adjust the program to your daily routine or vice versa.
Sigh...Najahlei, it looks like I'll be accompanying you on this program after all.
