How we met? My wife might be embarrassed if I tell all this, but since oonu fass (see my wife is teaching me Jamaican)...

We met about 2 years ago online. On match.com. After a brief correspondence I travelled to Kingston to meet her. We had a lovely first date at Port Royal: a seafood dinner by the waterfront, a walk along the ruined fort at the beach, etc. She showed me around Kingston. Then we went to Negril where I showed her "my" part of the island (I had travelled to Negril as a tourist many times).

One thing led to another, yada yada yada, and on a subsequent visit I popped the big question, at a romantic spot at an inn way up in the Blue Mountains. She said "yes"...

We had a long engagement while we sorted out all the logistics: who moves where, immigration hassles, etc. Finally we got married here in Boston this May. Here's a photo:



So that's our fairy-tale story.

Now back to planning this upcoming relief trip...

One more addendum. I don't really want this post to be about *us*, I want it to be about the people we're trying to help.

So, about our dear friends in Hanover... They are a family (single mom and 3 daughters) that I met on one of my early trips to Negril a few years ago, before I even met my wife. The mom is a housekeeper at a wonderful likkle hotel in Negril where I often stay. I became friends and "adopted" this family. When I visit Jamaica I always see them and take them on outings. I think of the pickneys as if they were my daughters.

I haven't heard from them since Ivan. So the first thing we are doing is to look for them.

Here's 3 pictures: their house, the mom and youngest daughter inside the house, and the 2 older daughters in a field near the house. I hope they're OK and this house is still standing! I heard Cauldwell got hit hard.

Regarding the first 2 pics, it's Maureen in both of course, and she's black (Jamaican). Her hair is done differently in the wedding picture. - Richard.
