It’s like this-If you’re a Democrat, I get it. You’re bummed. Your guy lost, and the whole country looks like a Texas sunset. So get it out, get over it. Let’s move on.
Some of you say Bush is trashing the environment, subjugating the poor, propagating an unjust war, etc. I have heard it all over the last twenty-four hours from my Democratic friends. At least I think they’re still my friends. Seriously, they’re whacked. Now I have no doubt that had Kerry been elected, and were it not for a few Ravens Stadium’s worth of Ohioans he would have, my Republican friends would be as equally distressed. Limbaugh took some time this morning to fire back a Nah-Nah-Nah Nah Nah. I don’t blame him either. He was the subject, and maybe deservedly, of quite a few shots from the left as well. This will go on for a few days among those of us normal, competitive human beings. And a bit longer for some of my politically obsessed pals. And even longer for the tin-foil hat crowd, but then again, that’s the least of their problems But that’s not what disturbs me.
What’s grabbed my shorts this morning is the international reaction to our election. You know, the countries around the world that criticize us, castigate us, and of course call on us when the spit hits the fan. Today, the UK’s Independent mocks President Bush. He’s stupid, ineffectual, etc. Now hold on a second. I’ll tolerate that for a moment by a Kerry supporter for a day or two after the election. But not from these weasels. The headline of today’s Independent says ““How can 59,054,087 be so dumb!” Well, the answer is easy. We don’t care what you think.
Actually, it’s the other 51 million who should really be offended by foreign reactions such as the UK and France’s condemnation of Bush’s victory. Really, John Kerry’s supporters are being told that 1-they are no longer Americans, but transplanted EU leprechauns, and 2-If the 54 million people who hated for Bush are that dumb, how stupid are the 51 million who lost to them?
Look, what I’m saying here is, it’s our house. We built it, we protect it, and we damn near let anyone who wants come inside it. If you want to throw rocks at it, be careful. We might just develop a memory the next time you cry “help”.
