It could be ancestral. Hell, they say the fruit doesn't usually fall far from the tree.Originally posted by wiggin:

I think BR was teasing, not being mean. Lesson #2 I guess would be - have a thick skin. Remember that how you receive most electronic messages has more to do with your personality and mood than the sender's.

Actually I was more intrigued that you took the time to add a signature since you are a visitor just asking for info for a project.Originally posted by wiggin:

You didn't answer the question of how you came to choose Jamaican Americans if you haven't visited Jamaica. Just curious.

Can't people just have a conversation without being so sceptic and having such attitudes? Twisting other people's words is narrow-minded and not fair, is it? [/qb]

Re: About being a Jamaican-American
[qb]Well like I said the book is an obsession of mine. Hence the signature. No big deal, really, guess jus was curious to see if anyone would recognice it. 'N besides, I never expected to get any info in a couple of days and the presentation isn't due until April so 'guess I'm sticking around at least a month or so...Originally posted by Tigrrr:

And why Jamaican Americans... Actually we have ansvered that on several occasions. 1) For no reason in specific, just had to do the essay on a minority in America 2) 'Cause the difference in cultures is such a big issue and a personal interest of mine.
And... Hmm... Actually this kinda needs some bacround info. We studied the relations of the U.S. with its' neighbours etc, for instance, Jamaica. First the official American wiew on the history and the tensions existing today, and then some outsider wiews on it. (Differed on MANY things.) To say this politely; (I am talking of your home country, here, no offence but...) I found the American inteferance with it's neighbours quite disturbing, and wanted to know more. Now thinking of it, we weren't actually told where the 'outsiders wiews' came from... but I'm pretty sure they weren't Jamaican wiews. Hence, we're here.
